  • Yeah it did, it caused a mental shift on how you look at it from giving you something to taking something away from you instead.

I dont really feel tempted at all long term, because I had tried smoking one a couple years later and it was like sucking on an ashtray. Because I was no longer addicted I didn't get the relief anymore that smoking gave, and that let me move on more fully.

  • I have been firing up The Powder Toy for well over a decade to kill time during meetings

  • This book was how I finally managed to quit smoking well over a decade ago.

  • Try using the "scaled" version while browsing all, it lets all the small stuff pop up too. Just be ready to religiously block communities without hesitation to get things curated how you want

  • Good stuff appreciate all the info. I'm definitely a person that struggles with getting to sleep.

For my laptop I use redshift as soon as the evening comes on and it is very nice, which is what I was thinking when I saw you in these. Same thing but for reality haha

  • We had typing in the 90's, but that was on electric typewriters, and was in I guess what you would call middle school not elementary.

Later there was 'Mavis beacon teaches typing' as the earliest typing ones that was really popular

  • That's my philosophy too. I like browsing all so I heavily filter with keywords and blocking. My community block list is approaching 600

  • Its a bit like having an ant farm or taking the hood off a complex machine and watching it work. I miss compiling in Gentoo.

  • Also the same, been doing it for roughly a decade now. Outside of a once a year emergency I don't start work until after lunch. I just say 'I have other commitments in the morning'. I've had some PM's push early in client engagements but it's never escalated more then that. I just make the boundaries super clear and am always willing to walk away.

  • For Windows it absolutely is in order of listing however. Typical behaviour is no reply after a second against the primary DNS results in it moving down the list.

Redundancy aside, this is more important when you span multiple datacenters and always want lookups going to the completely local or most local DC available.

TIL about the Linux/BSD not having preference though. Good to know.

  • We call them ceasers

We typically buy the clam juice premixed with tomato juice, Clamato juice.

  • Me too, over 1400 hours. I use a lot of mods. I take a break for a year or more at a time and then get hooked again. I'm trying to wait for the NPC update until I do again

  • Especially factorio with mods. I play with bob and angels mod which massively increases the complexity. I use infinite ore as well because anything on a timeline stresses me. I have over 2000 hrs in it.
