  • Hahaha same on the distcc cluster. It was a rare proud moment for me many years ago. I rememeber when I got the cross compiling working it felt like magic. Good times.

  • That parkour push off the wall at the end was fantastic

  • First family computer I used was a TI99 4/a, this was around 1983 or so, with tape deck. Used to type in programs from magazines. I grew up using BBSs, Lan parties, freenet, and shared university accounts when the internet still wasn't publically accessible.

My first computer that was my own I remember well because it was unique, a dual Pentium pro which was the first i686 and that processor line went on to power ASCI red to become the first supercomputer to reach a teraflop. Dual CPUs in consumer hardware was very unique for the time, it was more classed a workstation then a computer.

  • More like your punches to the dick

  • Same, it seems like a bunch of people that want to get off twitter but don't pull the plug so bluesky is thier backup plan in case it doesn't work out.

  • Lousy Smarch weather

  • My issue is that I no longer get updates for a over a year now, I'd be happy using it until it no longer works otherwise.

  • My phone is 4 years old and this sounds like a horror story to me. I have no idea what I'm going to do next.

  • And the fact they took the time to fix the autocorrect not capitalizing the words spelled out for BDSM. If you are angry it's not happening.

  • You can sync in a bunch of different ways that you don't have to pay for, but I'm not sure about git. I've used Nextcloud, OneDrive and syncthing. You can even host your own Joplin based server, might be docker only, I haven't tested it yet.

  • They have just been bloating the software continually with useless features as well over the years, the android client became so bloated it was basically unusable for taking quick notes. I was a user for 13 years, after the last price increase I imported everything to Joplin about a year ago and am very happy with it.

  • Lol that sounds like a mitch hedburg line.

  • This is now available as of 0.19. Before that you needed a 3rd party tool like lasim.

    User data export/import

Users can now export their data (community follows, blocklists, profile settings), and import it again on another instance. This can be used for account migrations and also as a form of backup. The export format is designed to remain unchanged for a long time. You can make regular exports, and if the instance becomes unavailable, register a new account and import the data. This way you can continue using Lemmy seamlessly.

  • I get them all over, usually 3 in a row. I call it the stigmata lol

  • It's best to let them get it out until the energy has run its course, and just stop responding and check back in an hour or two with a follow up response.

For people who treat chat like an email, I simply reciprocate.
