  • I seem to remember coming across some crude as a kid, not like in the wild, but when I was with my dad on deliveries. This would have been back when the tar sands were still un/starting to be developed. The shit stinks like crazy if I remember right, and its gross to touch. Think I seen crude, tar sands, and refined oil all in the same place, point in time. Cant remember the context around why I was able to get that close to it, so, hell its so fuzzy, it might have even been a dream at this point

  • ahh, OP asks the dumbest questions, then bitches at the folks who call him out on it.

    Another day, another stupid question.

  • Back in the day, I paid for every single received text, network provided or not. If some asshat decided to mass text me, it could easily run my phone bill up real fast.

  • i blame voice to text, even tho i didnt use it

  • I grew up in Alberta and was forced to take french from grades 1-6 and I believe it was an option from grade 7 onward. Most of my french teachers sucked at teaching, didn't know the language that well, or just didn't care. I know my french sucks and I can hardly string a few words together, however I can understand a lot more when spoken to me, and I can figure out 70% while reading it. Just don't ask me to wright in french.

However I drove across Canada this summer and I apparently know enough to get fuel while in Quebec!

  • pagination

i learned a new word today, thank you

  • my father and his side are all Danish, I'm first born Canadian on that side. Would be kinda cool to walk across after hearing stories about grandpa and dads boat trip here

  • since the kind of community is irrelevant.

First you start by buying a bunch of land, preferably around, or close to, a city.

Second you have to develop the infrastructure (water/sewer, power, etc)

Third you need an agreement with the city to provide those services to your new community

Fourth you will need to pick a name for your new community

Fifth you will need to build some parks and schools for the families in your new community

Sixth you will need to subdivide to make buyable properties

Seventh you will need to supply those subdivided properties with the services already laid down along major routs (see step #2)

Eighth you will need to start advertising the lots you just subdivided for sale

Once all the property has been bought, you now have yourself a new community.

sorry if this is not what you were looking for, your question was kinda open ended and no one really knows what community you speak of, since again, you did not say just what KIND of community you were seeking

  • 100% agreed

  • if you are having this much of an issue with someone who answered your question (remember, you did not say what KIND of community you were looking to build) and are this bothered, maybe you shouldn't be starting a community, be it here on lemmy, or in the real world, it seems the internet is not for you, nor is social media. Stick to a blog where you can put whatever you want and no one can reply or disagree with you, and everyone will always know 100% exactly what context you are referring to while asking questions.

I'm done with you now, run along and play.

  • It was not a simple question, you did not elaborate in any way

No one was to know what community you want to build, or where, or what context. This is not 'questions about lemmy and associated products/services' is it? So stuff your self righteous attitude up your ass and take a whiff, then report back please.

  • Well, at least I have a sense of humour, apparently you don't.

Maybe I missed where you expanded on your question, and let the good folks know exactly what you mean.

  • First you start by buying a bunch of land, preferably around, or close to, a city.

Second you have to develop the infrastructure (water/sewer, power, etc)

Third you need....oh shit, you mean...yeah I think its been answered, sorry for my confusion

  • I have been making smaller portions for sure, but giving the leftovers away is a good idea

  • they seed the clouds around my area to help with hail damage. the farther from the city you go, the worse the hail.

  • i was gonna say 'as much as your wallet will allow', but same sentiment
