  • What the fuck has happened over there?

The inevitable outcome of a situation wherein a country is allowed to blatantly violate international laws and human rights for decades without consequences and a ridiculously overfed MIC with unwavering support from major powers.

  • What's the alternative? Do nothing and let another bugfuck crazy GQP nutbag run the Senate House?

I'm ok with the Democrats finally finding a spine and making the party of traitors squirm while the whole world sees how fucking stupid and disorganized they are. They made their bed cozying up to the lunatic fringe, and now we get to watch them have some sleepless nights until the donor class lands on them again like they did to McCarthy for the last budget negotiations.

  • This is probably just a use of different words to not sound repetitive.

Then why do they only do it in the same way, every time, and for other western powers? For example, this is from 2005:

"On the March 18 CBS Evening News, reporter Byron Pitts gave these figures: “Today, U.S. deaths number more than 1,500. There are no exact figures for Iraqi fatalities, but estimates are for every American killed, 11 Iraqis died.” In other words, more than 16,500 Iraqi deaths."

Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, but decades of examples are clearly a system pattern.

  • Yeah, Israel is the better comparison. Both want an authoritarian government that will exterminate the minority they don't want around. Both like to use the violence of the system to do it, but aren't afraid to let the MIC bomb them to bits

  • Hey, you're not allowed to talk about the decades of an apartheid state's treatment of these people or the systematic destruction of their infrastructure to be stolen by illegal settlers or the fact that Israel is directly responsible for creating Hamas; all the history for this conflict started like 6 months ago!

  • Yep, that's exactly the dumb, bullshit claims about antisemitism I was talking about. I can't take any claims of antisemitism seriously when it's really just anti-zionism or basic criticism of the authoritarian nature of Israel or just their inhumane treatment of the legal citizens so illegal settlers can steal their land.

I refuse to accept basic criticism of Israel as antisemitism, because that gives them an intellectually lazy rhetorical dodge to justify committing acts that their forebearers had once claimed 'never again'.

  • Is that worse than children dying of starvation, constant destruction of infrastructure and housing, or fuel and food blockades? Does it matter if the violence is directly inflicted or is just institutionalized?

  • So sad that any good sentiment towards Palestine not full-throatedly pro-Israel is instantly taken to be anti-israel.

FTFY. For as long as I can remember, Israel has been doing shitty things and mischaracterizing any criticism as antisemitism.

  • Who knows why they harbor them

Yeah, who could ever know why Palestine harbors the group that Israel funded to delegitimize the more moderate political parties? It's not like the group Israel funded explicitly advocates for aggression against Israel in the name of freeing the Palestinians from the murderous boot of Israel and their decades long campaign of slowly exterminating the Palestinians and stealing all of their land.

    It's a complete mystery....

  • It’s war, and they put themselves in this position.

Did they also put themselves in the inhumane conditions that sparked this war too? Or is decades of inhumane treatment of the Palestinian people immaterial to the situation?

Because Israel is a good part of the reason Hamas is as powerful as they are, so I guess they put themselves in this position too?

  • Also, the whole "illegally annexing land, destroying people's homes, propping up Hamas to delegitimize Palestinian political groups, and attempting to slow walk a genocide against the previous people" thing probably didn't help Israel's situation either.

  • Hmmmm

    Jump
  • Because they don't want it, simple as that. Why do you think they've been illegally stealing Palestinian land and bulldozing their homes for illegal settlements for decades?

  • They're only 'fiscally responsible' when they're not in charge and someone wants to spend money on something other than the MIC and their donors. When they're in charge, anything for killing people and making rich people even richer is somehow 'fiscally responsible' then.
