  • You would benefit from being specific when making a comment where your exact words are wholesale endorsement of someone's worldview. Turning around and immediately changing the entire thesis of your comment makes it seem like your goal was to be contrarian rather than add to the discussion.

    A. "Don't surround yourself with extremists.

I'd surround myself with extreme centrists instead"

    B. "That is shallow"

You. "They see modern issues better than you. (...)"

You may want to rethink how you provide endorsement in general, if someone pointing out how shallow of a belief something that is inarguably shallow encourages you to claim that other someone, off of a single comment, literally sees the world better.

    Have a good one.

  • Not all the clothing anyone wears in a plant. Clothing special for contamination areas. They also do scans at thresholds and anything you carry with you that gets contaminated is confiscated. Nuclear plants genuinely have a level of safety in the us that is pretty hard to comprehend, it's all done out of an abundance of caution more than a genuine need for it. Not quite security theater, just a very high degree of security.

  • I've had a phone with a USBC charger for years. Previous to that it was micro USB. I know several people who have done the same.

Nothing you have described has really ever been an issue for any of us. Your critiques are true, I suppose, but it's important to think about how often they are practical issues and not just theoretical.

And at that, USBC ports are in general repairable. The only time they aren't is when they are impossible to gain access to without damaging anything else.

My take away from your comment, personally, is that lightning cables burn out, are more expensive than USBC, are proprietary and not an open standard, but might be easier to clean. Though you can clean USBC ports using a needle, so not even crazy easier, just a bit.

I can understand being hesitant about change, but these feel like exaggerated critiques.
