  • like allowing differences of opinion and anti-authoritarianism

Getting steamrolled by nazis after inviting them to the table under pompous pretenses of "allowing differences of opinion" isn't even a viable starter for a government. The Weimar Republic comes to mind.

The in-setting excuse for why the Federation survived at all, shaky as it was, is that it employs cryptofascists already and gives them unchecked privileges to surveil, harm, and murder on a whim to maintain the status quo: Section 31. You might be a fan.

  • Like so many dystopian stories, the real life version that eventually comes about is more cringe and shitty.

Compare a decades ago EvilMegaCorp as presented in fiction to the Steve Jobs-emulating ukulele-strumming hellworld corporations burning the planet down around us while trying to seem insincerely quirky about it.

Ultor in Red Faction was evil and all that, but imagine if Ultor was Le Epic X and all of its maneuvers were narrated by an aging very divorced apartheid dad.

  • Unfortunately nebula has started blacklisting creators they dont agree with

Elaborate. Why were they banned? If it was kiddie creepers or nazi shit or "not fascists but #1 with fascists" shit like

I don't blame them for that.

  • "Human" as a deceptive descriptor for dehumanizing concepts, practices, or framing of people. "Human resources" is the most common version of that but it doesn't stop there. When some rich asshole talks about "human" this and "human" that or how they want "fellow humans" to "be better humans" or whatever it's pretty much always a thin creepy mask over some surveillance state shit or social manipulation.

Reddit had that "remember the human" slogan while normalizing and making excuses for all sorts of cryptofascist shit on that site, including thinly-veiled targeted harassment campaigns trying to drive vulnerable people into self-harm, and all of that was declared to be "not against the rules" and therefore permissible.

  • Nerd rapture into the loving arms of the godlike but submissive holo waifu and ultimate comeuppance for the unwashed rabble is always, always just around the corner. Just you wait.

  • That was one of the most timelessly funny episodes of that show, ever.

Never forget that Lucille Ball's personal influence with producers was crucial in allowing Star Trek to get off the ground in the first place.

  • The movie adds in a fundamental misunderstanding

The movie had blue curtained takes on the already blue curtained takes of the book. It was at its roots a masturbatory power fantasy of treat consumption and nothing more.

  • "Scary Movie" was so obnoxiously unfunny and awful that I left the theater before it was even halfway done and I almost never do that.

Then there were so many sequels and spinoffs and they kept getting churned out and kept making money.

  • Doing excel for 9 hours straight is far better than breathing toxic gases inside a damp, badly lit coal mines tho. Juste saying...

Give it time. Those work conditions are getting gradually worse all over again as the internal contradictions intensify.
