  • Not all at once. Fascists target a series of out groups, starting with the most marginalized, making the in group smaller and smaller. The more of the rich white cisgender heterosexual Christian male boxes you check, the further down the list you probably are, but you will be targeted eventually.

  • The ÷ sign isn't used by "Americans", it's used by small children. As soon as you learn basic mathematical notation in your introductory algebra class, you've outgrown the use of that symbol.

  • There should be some sort of law where if you want to offload decisions to AI, the person who decides to let the AI make those decisions needs to step up to take full civil and criminal liability for everything it does.

  • That's why they say "unemployment being too low is bad for the economy". Low unemployment means higher negotiating power for workers, which means higher wages and better working conditions. The only way that statement makes any sense is if they're exclusively talking about yacht money.

  • That's what protests originally were for. The reason they're called demonstrations is because you're demonstrating the number of people that will be armed and angry if the people in power ignore you. Without that implied threat, they're at most mildly inconvenient. It's meant to be a final check and balance, if you fuck up badly enough, the people beat you to death and burn your house down.

It should never have to come to that, but taking it off the table entirely renders the first step a bit pointless.

  • The only reason I could imagine for someone to believe they choose their sexuality is if they're in denial. "Of course every man wants to fuck another man, resisting that urge is a test of righteousness" is a common thought among religious homophobes.

  • There are plenty of studies. The "no studies" thing is a bad faith argument from deliberately misunderstanding the way medical studies work. The theoretical ideal of a double blind study has serious ethical problems when it involves giving a placebo to someone who would be seriously harmed by being denied care, so not all studies are done that way.

  • The danger of AI isn't that it's "too smart". It's that it's able to be stupid faster. If you offload real decisions to a machine without any human oversight, it can make more mistakes in a second than even the most efficient human idiot can make in a week.

  • Maybe if one side wasn't an openly theocratic fascist party that wants women to be property and anyone who isn't a straight white Christian to be dead, it would be easier to get along. I'm going to be hostile towards Republicans for the same reason I'd be hostile to someone pointing a gun at me.

  • The problem is whether or not that rule is taught depends on when and where you learned it. Schools only started teaching that rule relatively recently, and even then, not universally. Which of course makes for ideal engagement bait on your hellsite of choice.
