  • Yeah, Lemmy is crazily echo-chambered. If you don't actively shit on Elon for absolutely everything he does (be it good or bad) you get downvoted and called a bigot.

Why can't people be normal and shit on Elon for bad stuff and praise him for good stuff. There is not a single person in the world that is 100% good or 100% bad - everyone is on the spectrum and even the worst people have certain good aspects (and the best people have shit aspects).

EDIT: I sometimes feel like I could write a full-on essay about how Elon sucks and it would still get downvoted into oblivion just cuz I said like one positive thing about him in it.

  • As someone who almost exclusively plays multiplayer games - we are def not there. I agree with you that kernel-level anti-cheat needs to go and games should focus more on AI-based (behavior and pattern analysis) anti-cheats instead. But, it's simply not fair to to say that "we're already there" when almost 50% of the largest (most played) games out there don't work on Linux.

We are not there. Is it Linux's fault? No. But we are absolutely not there, yet.

  • Urban dictionary sums it up really well IMO.

A word used when you agree with something; or when you want to recognize someone for being themselves, i.e. courageous and unique or not caring what others think. Especially common in online political slang.

    For example:
META is based for open sourcing their LLM weights.

  • I'm 24. I didn't say META is based. I said it's becoming MORE based. For example: If META was only 10% based and now it became 20% based - it's still not based, but it became more based. Hope this better explains my perspective.
