This is another thing I'm worried about. All of these people protesting will get arrested and prosecuted by whichever corrupt partisan motherfucker ends up being AG. All of a sudden the most passionate and active leftists have a felony conviction and can't vote.
I agree with your order, though I haven't seen Hollywood. If your taste continues to match mine, you would probably put Django and Hateful somewhere around 5 and 6.
There's a fan theory that Tarantino has actually made two different series, splitting at Basterds. That's why some of his movies are more grounded, and some are more cartoonishly violent. The theory goes that the events in Basterds created an alternate universe where violence in movies is way more socially acceptable. The more grounded movies (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, etc) are set in our universe, while the more cartoonish ones (Kill Bills, Death Proof, etc) are set in the alternate universe.
Kinda interesting theory, and I definitely prefer the grounded ones to the alternate universe films.
Drink too much, work too much, eat a diet consisting mostly of cheese and carbs. Stay in half-decent shape by putting in 14-hour days at a physical job.
I fucking love Murphys, but they even admit that they're not super talented. Ken Casey once said he didn't even learn to play bass until their second album.
Interesting story. Dropkick Murphys (Boston-Irish punk band) got their first national hit by doing a punk version of "Shipping Out to Boston," which was a Woody Guthrie taperoom-floor forgotten song. They also just lost one of their lead singer/songwriters last year.
They were trying to figure out what direction to go in, when Woody Guthrie's granddaughter called them up to say she had found a bunch of other scraps and notes, wondering if they had any interest in putting together an album.
They said "fuck it, sure" and made an album called "This Machine Still Kills Fascists." It's not quite my cup of tea, but it resonated with a lot of people. If you're interested in Guthrie's music it's definitely worth a listen. Modernized medium-talent version of his b-sides, basically.
The other downside is the situation I'm in. I made friends with a bunch of coworkers, then I got promoted to be their boss. Makes for a very strange power dynamic, where I have to code stitch between boss mode and friend mode.
Plus, I've had to fire people who I've been friends with for years. That fucking sucks.
More paperwork, different paperwork. Biggest change is that it was no longer compatible with our manifest system, so we have to physically take every Canadian parcel to the Post Office and fill out the excise paperwork in person. Turned a ten-minute task into 1+ hour.
Colloquially it's used as "like the Alps" as much as "of the Alps."
