life is casual misogyny.

i use windows for all my company services.

i don't expect random internet strangers, or even people i know irl... to fall in line with my values.

but i'm mentally ill like that. this crazy idea i have that other people have different values... and that's OK, and I can like them anyway.

it's no different than the yahoos who they they would run the govt better. then they try and give up because it's 'too hard'. this is basically the same as soveign citizen BS, but with vegetables instead of guns.

but we can't let a complex reality get in the way of our well-intention delusions of smugness. because apparently if every citizen isn't providing themselve wiht their own fruits and vegetables... it's their complicity with corporations... or something.

and who will till the soil, weed, fight pests, harvest, etc.

I mean I get it. I'm a rich white person with a lot of leisure time and I own property where I can have a garden... but turns out not everyone has this stuff. Half my younger friends have no time and no property on which to garden. And those folks are much better off that say, a single mom of two who rents and is struggling to provide her kids with food because she's working 50 hours a week to pay rent. Should I just tell her to 'make your own garden! that will totally feed your family of three...' just put dozens of hours into your concrete driveway of plastic tubs that will provide you with a few weeks of vegetables, most of which will rot before you can use them... unless you want to devote more time and money into canning.

Gardening is great. But jerking myself off and generalizing and saying everyone else should be doing what i have the luxury to do... just makes me a smug self-righteous ass. People buy food from stores because it's convenient and fast.

You are missing the point.

It's not about your shop. It's about everyone making their own furniture... which doesn't scale and isn't feasible.

statistically, the danger to women is known men. most women are assaulted by men they know and trust.

you can't argue with people who are convinced that 'minority' status grants them a moral superiority, and therefore their attacks on a non-minority group are justified.

The medical history of abuse of black people in America is largely fueled by the nonsense that 'black people feel less pain'. It's incredibly fucked up. Horrible shit was done based on these stereotypes.

Same logic applies when women abuse men. 'men feel less pain/are stronger. Abuse against men is just the 'price we should pay for our privilege' etc. etc.

Yep. It's incredibly fucked up to think how prevalent that 1920s horseshit still is in many people's minds 100 years later.

IME of online communities it was the women who supported the abusers in the community and ostracized anyone who called them out as 'attacking the community'. Quite a few of them were also abusive.

men don't get support and safety for being victims. we get ostracized and many see our confession of previous abuse as 'evidence' that we deserved it and brought it upon ourselves.

it's about abusers vs abused, not about men vs women. women can be abusers. trans people can be abusers, non binary people can be abusers. asexual people... can be abusers.

but that's too subtle for most folks, for whom man = bad, woman = good.

god forbid we focus on the act, rather than the identity of the person(s) who did it, and making stupid discriminatory generalizations based on the identity of that person(s).

I've been using this platform for 6 mos. and it's getting worse and worse with the negativity.... because that's what drives interaction for the vast majority of users.

people who see a funny joke will laugh and move on, maybe upvote. people who get offended by it downvote it, reply, and hope that you reply so they can continue to harass you.

money today that i can use today is worth more than money tomorrow.

and money today that i invest now, will be worth a lot more than money tomorrow that i can't invest and get interest on

it's not responsible in terms of my company lasting a long time... but it's responsible in terms of profit.

it goes further, a lot of them don't trust the court anymore at all. to them it's beyond redemption so it doesn't matter who gets appointed by whom.
