  • Since other commenters aren’t bothering to look into it at all:

Cuba says it has disrupted a scheme in Russia to recruit Cuban citizens to fight in Ukraine.

In a statement, Cuba's Foreign Ministry called the alleged plan a human trafficking ring. It said Cubans, both in Russia and on the island, had been recruited to fight in Russia's war against Ukraine.

Cuba is actively trying to prevent this.

  • Many within the South African business elite actively lobbied for an ANC-DA partnership, fearing an alternative that was termed by the DA as a “doomsday coalition” between the ANC and one of its far leftist split-offs in the EFF and/or MK party. The fear included the possibility of the government seizing land and assets currently owned by wealthy, predominantly white business owners.

The ANC ultimately decided against the MK party’s ultimatum, instead forming a coalition with the DA, and a number of its smaller right-wing party allies — including the white nationalist Freedom Front Plus or “FF Plus.” In this way Ramaphosa was able to keep his position as South African President in exchange for a number of executive cabinet positions, which had been previously reserved exclusively for high ranking ANC party members.

More notable, the leader of the white nationalist FF Plus, Pieter Groenewald, was appointed Minister of Correctional Services. It’s the first and only cabinet position that the party has ever obtained and is a remarkable advancement for them considering they actually lost votes and were only able to secure around 2% of the vote.

Rather than side with leftists, they went with white nationalists. Sure that’ll work out great /s

  • Nowhere in my post did I say he needs to shut down oil production. I understand that’s not feasible. But we don’t need to be increasing it and giving out more permits for drilling than Trump did during his presidency.

Counting that as a win is crazy, that was the point of my response.

This coupled with the tariffs on importing cheap EVs are both clearly not wins for fighting climate change.

And before anyone feels the need to comment like they do on anything critical of Biden, yes trump would be worse. But less bad isn’t going to stop the sea levels from rising.

  • Lmao this is what you came up with? Most of these aren’t “progressive” especially when 4-5 are pushing more military or escalating trade wars. Plus are you really trying to say this is a major win

Biden scraps Trump’s paint scheme for Air Force One

Plus producing more oil than ever is on there as well. Like that’s not a win that’s completely counter to helping climate change.

  • Didn’t really bury it because I don’t agree with that analysis and it’s not part of the poll.

If they’re polling similar to him with 39%-71% of the people not knowing who the candidate is that means their floor is where Biden is.

  • The post-debate Data for Progress poll tested the odds of eight Democrats who have been floated as possible alternatives to Biden, including Vice President Kamala Harris and multiple Democratic governors. Biden’s self-proclaimed advantage is tempered by the lack of name recognition — so far — for the other options. Aside from Harris, prospective voters were so unfamiliar with these Democratic leaders that between 39 and 71 percent* *of respondents said they hadn’t heard enough about them to have an opinion. Even so, each potential candidate performed the same or even better than Biden.

  • The fact that the government recognized the issue and stepped in to take control of the industry in order to prevent issues is a win compared to how things are allowed to just burn out and fail potentially causing larger issues in for the economy in other countries.

Most countries wouldnt be able to say no to capital and it would meant the resources would continue to cheaply get extracted at the expense of the long term health of the counties industry.

  • So what’s your issue here?

If prices are falling low enough that it’s causing financial issues for some of these companies that would tell you that there’s too much supply relative to demand so you’d obviously slow production. By your own post you’re saying it’s so the refineries can stay in business, that would mean the price is too low for it to be economically viable.

If you let things continue eventually one would go bankrupt if they don’t slow production so one way or another the supply would come down.

  • In one video, which has 30,000 views on TikTok, a young woman becomes increasingly exasperated as she attempts to convince the AI that she wants a caramel ice cream, only for it to add multiple stacks of butter to her order.

Lmao didn’t even know you could add butter to something at McDonald’s. If you can’t then it’s even funnier it decided that’s a thing.
