So yes, you have to make some assumptions. But to me it's pretty clear that if someone is expressing anger at a possible joke that would be messed up if not a joke, they probably aren't trolling/joking themselves. And then even if some people were, when you see people doing it en masse, I think it's a safer assumption to assume no one gets the satire than it is for them to see a single random thing online and then get mad about what they think it means, when there are multiple possible interpretations

I never said anyone should assume something is satire. It's possible to just not know something and not make a judgement.

I feel like it should be more like "Poe's sometimes true thing" because satire does indeed still exist. People making assumptions is the issue.

The trust issue is so real. I can't even imagine how different I'd be if I grew up trusting and being trusted. I knew my parents lied to me sometimes and they always accused me of it, despite me constantly getting myself in trouble by volunteering honesty no one asked for. A therapist once told me my role in the family seemed to be "truth teller". I think she was right about that. Maybe I was overcompensating for my family lying by calling out the truth constantly.

It's a bizarre thing for your parents to believe strangers (in one case a jerk kid who rode my bus) who make shit up, but not believe you, their child. I guess it's them accidentally admitting they'd lie if they were in the situation they think you're in.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I hope it lives up to the hype. I like gnome but at the same time even just the need for the extensions is annoying. Because you're right, they can be janky really easily depending on factors.
