  • Lemmy-Easy-Deploy is awesome, and yes, Oracle will burn you eventually, and you won't be able to access your instance to run one of the migrate scripts to move elsewhere. Everything will be permanently gone.

Check out Hetzner instead. They have reasonable prices and DCs in both the EU and the US. They also just started offering ARM servers as well.

  • Yeah, check out Altered Carbon (the first book or the first season) for how this would likely play out.

  • You can do this in most browsers on Android as well, but the option is called "Add to home screen".

  • You can thank Disney and Mickey Mouse for that one.

  • now maybe Psych?

    You know that's right.

  • Yes. Top Gear and Grand Tour specials are on ALL THE TIME over here. I think I've watched the Mongolia special about 20 times at this point.

  • The Good Place was really, really good.

From Derek and his wind chimes to "the wave was just a different way for the water to be, for a little while."

  • Hello, me. I do all of these things as well. VLAN/Valetudo/vivisect Intuit.

  • Cold fusion so refreshing right now

  • Bad news - it looks like that particular model won't run Valetudo:

Device has relatively weak hardware (in comparison to cheaper D9 variants). Hardware too limited to run Valetudo or other custom software. Not recommended device if you ever plan to root!

If you have a compatible model, it's pretty easy to set up.

  • I have a Dreame D9 flashed with Valetudo, and it's quite excellent.

Never even installed the app. Valetudo allows the machine to run locally, no calls anywhere outside the house.

  • I'm a proponent of the "get a 'lil more than you need right now" philosophy, but I also don't want to spend a fortune.

I also didn't really see the point of an enclosure - my stuff wasn't enclosed before, and the open framed racks are cheaper, so I settled on a Tedgetal 20U open frame rack and it's actually quite excellent for $200.

Nothing was bent, everything was packed well, no missing parts. I had enough of my budget left over for some slightly fancier screws and a few Navepoint 1U shelves, because I have some heavier equipment that isn't rackable.

The included shelves are ok for lighter things - I have several SFF machines I use in a Proxmox cluster that live on those.

  • Can't be, I am actually you. Don't forget to do that thing later.

  • NEW for 2025! The Apple Scroll hath been unveiled to succor the clamoring of the faithful for devices which fold not, but rather ROLL into a beautiful scroll (1), suitable for the most discerning of cylinder enthusiasts! Only $1700 (2)!

    (1) Placing Apple Scroll in any bodily orifice will void the warranty, except in the EU, where Apple is legally prevented from kink-shaming due to the 2024 Schrems IV: A New Hope (For Sexy Times) Ruling.

    (2) Apple Quill $299 (required (3) to use Apple Scroll).

    (3) Apple Tricorn Cap Quill Holder $499 (4): Impress your followers on Threads by being one of the first to wear the official Apple Tricorn Cap Quill Holder to influence your followers to purchase their very own Apple Tricorn Cap Quill Holder for only $499!

    (4) The Apple Tricorn Cap Quill Holder requires an Apple Quill to disable the "Ring of Fire" theft-prevention (5) device built into the brim of the Apple Tricorn Cap Quill Holder.

    (5) The theft is from Apple revenue if you do not purchase the Apple Quill.

  • I've been pretty happy with the Intel T series processors. Running 2 i7-6700Ts and one i7-8700T. Both have a TDP of 35 watts.

I'm using them in Proxmox machines and they've been super reliable while using very little power.

  • I know. But it's not illegal to look up stuff from TMDB. It only becomes a problem if the copyright holder already has your IP address, knows what you've downloaded, and also subpoenas a list of addresses you've visited, which could provide them with additional evidence that you did in fact download their IP in a court case against you.

"See, Judge? He downloaded Shrek 12: The Enshrekening AND he also downloaded movie posters and a plot synopsis from TMDB for this same movie, which proves that he was in possession of our property."

If they don't already have evidence that you've "stolen" from them, a TMDB query won't be evidence of anything useful.

It's pretty easy to get flagged for illegal downloads with torrents, but almost impossible to do the same with usenet downloads.

  • They think climate change is a political topic, so...probably not.
