  • The point is that most really loud cars are made to be loud. And usually equipped with a way to quickly undo that, if needed.

I've seen a TV report on some policemen hunting "tuned" cars. They were following an obnoxiously loud car in an unmarked police car, stopped them, and took measurements - suddenly, the car was "just normal". But they knew what they heard, and the measurements they had taken from a distance had been way louder than the measurements taken at a defined distance from the exhaust, so they impounded the car for further investigation. And found a switch in the glove compartment that changed the car from "normal" to "loud".

You've got to catch them red-handed. As long as they can disable or just quickly undo something like that before a MOT , it won't get a single idiot and his car off the road.

  • In this and in the Georgia case there are enough co-conspirators who don't want to stay behind bars til they drop. Only one needs to sing the right tune, and loud enough to get a "get out of prison" card. The problem that Trump is only surrounded by weak yes-men is that they are weak.

  • Well, the MySQL access is 99% read, so the wear and tear is not really an issue. It normally runs out of cache, anyway.

What did your setup die off? Odroid hardware? Drive hardware? Or did you get some kind of filesystem issues/corruption?

  • I've got an RPi with an attached USB 3 SSD, and it works like a charm. Came back without problems after power outage.

Is no NAS though, it runs MySQL and Apache2 with a mediawiki system instead.

  • Well, we had posts, discussions, and even media in USENET back then. The only real differences I see are that fediverse is more modern and media-aware, and that people actively battle spam/bots/trolls, which in my time on usenet was not really an issue, though.
