  • Which invalidates one of the key arguments of the "fuck cars" crowd. They regularly come with the argument that a road without cars would need way less maintanence and therefor would be cheaper. They ignore (or don't know) that the damage done to roads by a vehicle depends on the weight and is an x^4 relationship. Guess what, if you banned all personal cars from a city while retaining access for trucks (as no city would survive without them), the road damage would not be reduced in any noticable manner.

  • Even if so, I'd not argue for a non-"truck centric" approach to moving dead trees.

Me neither, but some folks here probably believe that things like that would not happen if those trees had been carried by bikes.

  • If you don't care for the looks, just put it down where needed, and fix it to whatever is around with cable ties.

I did the same in my daughters shared accommodation. Officially they had wifi in all the student rooms, but my daughters room basically had no reception, so I ran a cable from the other end of the flat where the router was down the staircase into her room for a local AP. When she moved out, it was a quick job with a pair of pliers to get it out again.

  • I see the fine as both a warning and a lure for Trump. The court will step up the punishments, of that I am sure. And they started with a, for him, neglectable fine. He and his fanboys might laugh about this, but it could easily lead to prison for the next time he's fined - he now had ample warning from the court that he will be punished, and the next time it will be a repeat offence.

  • By the looks of the videos I've seen, the Ukrainians have turned small drone warfare into an artform.

They use them to find the Russians from up high and either send artillery or other drones, and seem to have designed a sport like "from how high can you drop a grenade into an open hatch?". I believe that any high, whirring sounds on the front will make Russians nervous in the future.

  • Nobody else is scheduled yet at all, so we now do not know when we're going to see this case go to trial.

Well, after Powell and Chesebro, they will pick the next potential plea candidate of the list. They are good at the "sing or Sing-Sing" game. When they have enough testimonies to get the rest of the gang behind bars, the deal offers will stop - except someone comes forward with something extra juicy.
