  • They were born into a family who supports face eating leopards. That sucks! But now as an adult they've continued to support the face eating leopards. Sure being indoctrinated into a religion is a tough thing to break out of... but when you are being attacked by the very people who indoctrinated you it should rapidly become obvious they don't have your best interest at heart.

  • What right investments? He was born into money and failed into getting anything from his X.com (banking!) website which was bought out by PayPal long after he was fired. The only reason he got anything out of that at all was he'd kept the stocks around.

He "invested" in Tesla so that he could get a cool car (he royally fucked over the actual founders in the process).

Low cost space? Low cost space? Do you live on Mars or some shit? Every one of those "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly" events cost over one Billion. That ain't cheap buddy.

  • ReVanced is a modded YouTube (and others) app. IE normal YouTube but you fuck with it locally to skirt what got the original Vanced guys. Adblock, OLED black theme same old thing Vanced provided. I've used NewPipe very little but I'd summerise a comparison as ReVanced has better user experience (thanks to Google making the app) and you can sign in/get notifications ect

  • Not as many as some of the other people in here but mine's not bad. Haven't submitted anything in like a year too... It appears as though my stats are off a bit. I mostly watch YouTube on mobile and it's reporting more submitted segments (same time saved) but strangely more personal segments skipped on mobile for less time I've personally saved. It's using the same SB account thing so I douno whats up with that. Brings me to the same leaderboard even so who knows

  • Look I think even you should be able to understand that phones aren't actually the problem here. Look around at the world around you. Where are kids supposed to go? You can't walk anywhere. Are they supposed to just get chauffeured around by their parents until they can drive?

Social media is bad for everyone, that's not unique to kids. The only reasonable solution to this problem is to remove car dependency and unfuck our zoning laws. Give kids places to go and they'll go there. They love that shit but they hate being a burden and since the modern world removed those opportunities what else do you expect them to do?

  • That's not a phone issue, that's a place issue. Where can your daughter go (without needing to drive) to hangout with friends? Can she conceivably walk there? Can her friends? I've been hearing my entire life that I just need to go outside and Bla Bla Bla but I don't have anywhere to go. The closest park is a good half hour walk and now there's even sidewalks! How pleasant. There's nowhere for children outside, it's nigh impossible to walk anywhere and it's not like your parents would let you anyway since there probably isn't even sidewalks the whole way.

For perspective I live a very reasonable 10 minutes walk away from the elementary school I went to. I think you'll agree that's a reasonable distance for at the very least the older kids to walk. However it took them till I was a senior in high school before they put in the side walk. You literally couldn't get to the elementary school on foot without walking on the side of the road for ~4 minutes. Even now the experience is awful and the crossings are unsafe. This is the world us phone kids grew up in. It's not that we don't want to go hangout in person, there's just nowhere to go and by the time people can drive it's far too late.

Also the high school is about 40 minutes walk, there's even sidewalks the whole way (now (only on one side))! It's an awful experience as there's absolutely no shade and about half of it is down a stroad.

  • Nuclear is very expensive to build it's the cheapest to maintain. Even accounting for horrible disasters like Chernobyl it's safer and less polluting. But yes, renewables are great! Most of our power where I live is from a dam. My grandpa had his house heated primarily via solar energy. They generated enough power through solar that they were able to sell it off to the energy dudes. When solar was bad they'd get power from the nearby wind turbines or the dam. All this stuff is great, it's way better than coal but a single nuclear plant would out perform all of that energy generation and ultimately, cost less.
