while I like the idea of Fairphone, last time i checked their flagship did not include an 3.5mm jack. This is simply not acceptable as i need it for my work. It is hard to find phones with a 3.5mm - even harder if you want to be able to repair them.
maybe a stupid question: But doesn't android sandbox every app? If every app is running in a sandbox, it shouldn't be too hard to pretend your phone isn't rooted.
If they check for a specific version number, like @RagingRobot mentioned, it also shouldn't be a problem. Just set that specific sandbox to return whatever version you want.
I am aware that 'just configure the sandbox' is not really an accessible solution. But a sandbox-config-master would be a great app for rooted phones.
Considering that i have a free account registered to a 10 min mail and paying customers don't seem to have that problem... It might be some kind of protection against manipulating the charts aswell.
While i agree with most of what you said, i think you might be falling into the trap of assuming the curve continues as it had.
Like most technology, ANNs will follow a sigmoid curve. Turing was already working with the same theories. While I did my education in IT, we had really interesting ANNs working, but only nerds would be excited by them. Now ChatGPT surprised the rest of the world and I would assume we are in the steep part of the sigmoid function.
But the problem is, that we can only determine where we where, if we look back. There is no way to say whether NOW is just the start, middle or towards the end of the curve.
What I can say is that now, LLMs and other implementations of AI are able to replace a trainee in my line of work. They still need a lot of supervision and are a tool, which can speed up work. This may lead to other problems: If companies decided to not take on the expensive task of training people and replacing them with cheaper AI - at some point we will run out of well trained veterans.
linux is for sure the superior choice. still can't understand why many public transport companies buy windows licenses to display simple departure times. some of them even seem to run separate machines for panels always displaying the same info...
Look at history: there where big and powerful right- and leftextreme goverments not far apart. Both sides where not a fun place to be in. Both where authoritarian dictatorships. If you go too far left or right you end up in an authorion regime with no power for the many.
TBH: Tech companies are not much different from how you described cops.
They don't usually bother to learn the tech they are using properly and take all the shortcuts possible. You see this by the current spout of AI startups. Sure, LLMs work pretty good. But most other applications of AI is more like: "LOL, no idea how to solve the problem. I hooked it up to this blackbox, which i don't understand, and trained it to give me the results i want."
You do realise this is a pirate community? The way yor comment reads, it seems like you dislike OP wanting free stuff.
I am aware of people doing some mental gymnastics to justify piracy. But IMHO that is about the same difference as a pirate to a privateer. Just acknowledge that you want stuff without paying and hoist that black flag.

Generally you are right. But the article was writing something about plugged in cars which are not charging. IMO noone should make weird statements like this without providing more details. Especially if the person who writes these statements calls themselves journalist.
