No, a bribe is an illegal form of lobbying. It is not lobbying.
If you can't agree, I can give you examples of lobbying that is not bribery. and if you can't understanding that then you're not reasonable and just a time vampire
That is a bribe. That isn't what lobbying is exclusively. Lobbying is bringing your issue to politician to influence them to fight for you. Corrupt lobbyist will bribe to influence the politician. But you're mixing up a subset of what it is with the whole. Lobbying is what groups fighting for abortion rights and civil action do every day. Tobacco lobbyist or your local wealthy family greasing wheels should dismay you from participating in it.
I remember in the 80s how often the FBI got in shit by sending in agents under cover to flirt and bang all the chicks. Many got pregnant. The goal was to get information at the start. But eventually turned into subterfuge of the groups to direct them to do such radical shit they couldn't grow and become actual threats. I can't imagine the shit they get up to now. I assume any group big enough to get attention isn't natural
Why not crowd fund your own lobbyist and think tank. Do what the rich do.
Think tanks create a strategy. They suggest/create bills in your interest. They tell you what politicians to target. Think tanks are filled with statistician and lawyers who build
portfolios for how to accomplish what you want. Its polls and research and statistics that show why your goal is good.
Hand the package to lobbyist who target those politician and start pushing change the way it is supposed to occur. Keep your issue in front of the politician. Show them through your research that if they pass and fight for (x) that they will stay in power or gain popularity and it will benefit the country.
Or call them Nazis and throw food at works of art. Not sure the best route.
Its crazy to me people think they can more easily convince people to burn their work days up protesting in streets than just donating $50 to the fight
What I'm scared about is that we could all have pocket medical and legal advisors, pocket instruction manuals for any device or vehicle, we could all have a pretty great personal, financial and life planner in our pockets that could provide real equity in society by giving people access to these tools who really could benefit. But instead we will lose it because we were told to be afraid of something because other people couldn't maintain gouging us
Probably lost a loved one to suicide. I knew a guy who walked in on his dads brains blown all over the wall. I always see people act like suicide is heroic or brave. But the hurt they leave behind is hard to separate from. Suicide is a pretty selfish act because you hand off all the pain to everyone else. The friend of mine will suffer the rest of their life among the rest of the family who were left with cleaning up after that mess
For sure. We all need money. But I'm not willing to accept all the stuff that comes with it. Which is why I believe there isn't a middle ground. I think what the internet could be and evolve into is much greater than some creator making money by exploiting its spaces.
But also, they can make money in what I'm proposing. What I'm saying is it shouldn't be a place where that is the creators main motivation for being here.
These creators end up with the same behaviors as any Spotify, twitter, Facebook executive. There are inherent barriers with modern online creators that work against the good internet we all want. Its insidious and not as evident as it is with the bigger players. But they are all the same.
Giving that all of them have shown you that the end state is to reduce the features and quality of content while making you pay more and more for this stuff.
We had the perfect opportunity. We had a new thing to shape and mold for future generations. Instead We let the people in who ruined every other thing we enjoyed. What I can't understand is how people thought they could let them in and also think it would somehow be different.
The right move is to do everything possible to make the internet anti profitable. The minute anyone. Tries we should copy and share it to infinity. Crack all the software. Treat everything the way NFTs were treated. Move the needle back to what we started with a space for hobbyist and enthusiast to create and share information without the endless pursuit of profit enshitifying every space we enjoy
