  • If you think the Democrats will change without serious challenges to their hegemony, then you really haven't learned. They've taken the wrong lessons from the last election, and doubling down on following fascism rightwards. They kick out people trying to reform the party while dismantling environmental protections at the state level where they still have power. They're increasingly throwing minorities under the bus and serve capitalism harder than ever because they've taken this loss as an excuse to be worse, not a call to improve.

I've been a long proponent of damage mitigation, which is why I don't advocate not voting. Unfortunately, the Democrats' response to this has actively made the situation worse by making people believe that voting for them can change things. Even with a large majority in both houses, Trump is already equipped to override their will using everything from the yesmen courts to his personal Gestapo.

I'll repeat the sad truth of our situation till the day I get shipped off to a death camp: Trump's death is the only thing that will stop him. We're in the endgame, and there is no snapping the people he'll kill back to life.

  • I guess I should've been more clear: Going to jail and earning less blood money are both extortion, but they're not comparable

  • Who? Oh, that's right, I actively don't care what a murderer's name is.

  • Except that the company wants another merger, not simply to exist. They wouldn't go to jail, they just wouldn't pad the pockets of certain execs and/or shareholders

  • I'd rather vote 3rd party than for a Corprocrat. They've done nothing but shine the shoes of fascists, which is even less than I expected of them. They normalize pure evil and pretend that they haven't already lost America, because without the illusion of liberalism, they have no power.

Unless the Democrat has the guts to take a stronger stance against fascism than democratic socialism, they're less than worthless. They're not even liberals at this point, but spineless neo-feudalists with no soul or heart.

  • This is pure theater, so why should I give it cudos? At most he'll get a settlement that'll go into his pockets, while it's more likely than not to go nowhere.

  • He isn't fighting shit. This is an absolutely performative stunt to earn brownie points from "the libs." He's a cynical asshole who will do nothing but help the owning class while pretending he'll help your side.

I have more genuine hatred for corprocrats like him than any of the fascists because they do nothing but sell false solutions. Instead of doing something useful, they're still playing politics. The fascists are evil incarnate, but they exist because of spineless neoliberal who are allergic to social democracy. By killing any real solution to people's problems, they make fascist change the only alternative to the status quo.

They just want us the beg for that fucked status quo back because at least people aren't being sent to death camps. I want every single one of them to burn.

  • These cultists will never accept that capitalism isn't the only solution. You can't use capitalism to fix problems created by capitalism. Claiming you can is a neoliberal delusion that only paves the road for neo-feudalism; a world where the only option for reform is extralegal violence.

  • We're seeing empires across the board vying for power now that the fascist US has abandoned its former soft power strategy. There is trouble brewing on so many fronts in this multipolar world, which means more chances for one of the bigger nations to enter a devastating war. It's not just 2 powers fighting for dominance, but dozens of others looking to fight, with about a third of them having nukes.

  • Go fuck yourself with a cactus Newsom. Snakes like you can't be allowed to pivot back to "owning conservatives" after sucking up to fascist youth groups. The only story here is that Newsom wants to get back into the good graces of liberals.

  • It kinda depends on when Trump dies. I doubt any fascists succeeding him can hold onto the support of both oligarchs and grassroots. Even

  • Yes it is. Trump can effectively ignore any constitutional amendment for more than long enough to start sending people to concentration camps. This also probably isn't the end of it, as I doubt the justices will be more willing to stand up to him in the future once he's consolidated power further.

  • I'd disagree. The world powers are more at risk of direct conflict than the founding empires hoped. Nationalism, militarism, and capitalism induced pain make major wars that fuck shit up more likely.

  • That rhetoric has always pissed me off for the same reasons as Americans not understanding why fascism took Europe in the 30s. Nowhere is special and nobody should think "it won't happen here."

  • The US is impossible to invade. Trump dying is the only way out, no elections or help from outside. We either wait this shit out by staying alive, or risk dying if you want to do something to improve things. It's why Democratic politicians aren't putting up a meaningful fight; they're scared. They know the law is only serves him now.

  • they hope to get to the point where people are too scared to protest

  • Maintaining order is essential to them; building a functioning and stable society is not.

  • Most economic theorizing is, but the fundamentals are sound. There are simple equations that measure markets accurately, but they can't tell you a thing about how material reality actually behaves. They cannot tell you which technologies will have which impact. They cannot predict the future any more than gut feelings, but basic principles can explain everything accurately after the fact.

Unfortunately, economics is the most valuable science to those with power, giving ample motivation for bs ideas to flourish and accurate ideas to be misused. All science gets sensationalized, but economics gets absolutely corrupted at all levels more than any other.
