I'm in the US, I voted against Trump, I'm likely going to suffer if he is able to accomplish a smidgen of what he has talked about, and I think we got what we deserved and the sentiment from your OP is valid. I know a lot of innocent people are going to suffer, but this is a country of very selfish people. Even some of the most liberal people I have met in this country still have a very selfish mindset and reason for the liberal bent. As soon as they attain a position where they have an advantage they basically pull up the ladder. I'm personally tired of it.

People are going to die, ecosystems are going to burn, countries may very well fall. My only hope is that things only get bad enough that the masses learn an important lesson that at least lasts for their generation and that recovery is possible in that time frame.

It's not that I don't care. It's not even that I don't have the fight left in me. I just don't see any kind of path to a better place without substantial harm occurring first. I will not be happy to be right. I want to be wrong.

I don't know how it could possibly be implemented, but I wish there was some kind of application or token that ran on my devices that would track how much I visited or used various pieces of FOSS software and services and then at the end of every month would pay each one from a predefined amount of money I set for how much I think I can afford for all of it. Maybe before actually sending the payments it generates a report stating the breakdown and allowing me to tweak the percentages.

Likely a privacy nightmare even if entirely locally running, but would be sweet.

Weird completely unrelated question. Do you have any idea why you write "Anyway" as "Anyways"?

It's not just you, it's a lot of people, but unlike most grammar/word modifications it doesn't really make sense to me. Most of the time the modification shortens the word in some way rather than lengthening it. I could be wrong, but I don't remember people writing or saying "anyway" with an added "s" in anyway but ironically 10-15 years ago, and I'm curious where it may be coming from.

That's highly debatable. Maybe not for the specific reason being discussed, but Valve, and by extension Gabe, IS complicit in stuff like CS:GO gambling which preys on the underaged and and vulnerable.

Unless you live in a place that legally requires all casks to be placed into a cement vault when they are buried. I guess technically the body does still decompose, but volume consumed by the entire endeavor doesn't really change.

Things would have likely gone a lot better if the Ds would have had an actual primary. It's so frustrating.

My completely unqualified answer would be a combination of two things.

The first is that it's often a lot easier to "say no" and be destructive/restrictive than it is to be constructive, thoughtful, intentional, and inclusive. The second is that the system of checks are out of balance and skewed towards Republicans even if the demographics of the US population as a whole don't reflect that.

The second is that Republicans control more of government at a state and local level in addition to having a majority in the highest branch of the judiciary. Therefore they not only have the ability to pump out more laws, they also have a higher probability of one of those bat shit laws being upheld.

I'm logically aware that's the case for other people, but I find it perplexing why often times. I was sterilized in my mid 20s, and I haven't ever regretted it.

One of the cards dangles out, and you do sometimes have to file the SIM tray down a hair (just the tray the slot/phone is not modified at all). A lot of the ribbons have an adhesive back and just enough length to curve around the body of the phone so that it contours the phone and sticks to the back.

Since I kept my phone in a case it was essentially indistinguishable/seamless to me.

So technically if a phone has a dual SIM slot where the second slot is shared between SD card or SIM, you can still use both SIMs and an SD card. There are little adapter ribbons that allow you to do so. One of my previous phones was a Huawei Mate 8 that I did that with.

And yet they still probably won't allow any third party app to have access to RCS via an API. FFS.

If you work in certain fields of engineering then you have to pass a drug test. The only job I have had where I wasn't drug tested was my hourly IT job before getting my degree. I have never had to give out social information and I never would.

I would add a caveat to your statement. It might not be just through a lawsuit but the threat of a lawsuit. A lawsuit will cost big money, but having a lawyer right the company a letter shouldn't cost more than a couple of hundred bucks. Most people give up immediately and that's what they are counting on. Worst case scenario is what? Tack a couple of hundred on to the thousands you will already owe? Basically a drop in a bucket.

Also, as scummy as the profession and some lawyers are, there are plenty who just want to do right by people. I have only paid a lawyer once, but I have talked to around half a dozen in my life time with questions about the law and some of the issues I was having. One or two probably spent at least a couple of hours on me over the course of a month or two when you factor in the initial 20-30 minute conversation, reading the documents I put together, and answering some of my follow up emails, and despite my insisting they charge me, they were insistent on not doing so.

(I suspect because in many of the situations what was happening to me was morally wrong, but legally more or less fine just barely grazing the gray area, and taking payment for their time could be construed as them acting as legal counsel as opposed to just answering some questions)
