This is a glass bed on an Ender that I am doing this on. I haven't had any issues with scratching the bed whatsoever. Mild steel is actually softer than glass so it might actually be harder to scratch than you might think. Your mileage may vary though.

When a print is really stuck, I use a puddy knife with a fine edge and a hammer to get them separated.

That's my worst case, but I'd rather not as there are times when I'd like to change the macros during work and I won't be bringing a personal computer with me to work to do so.

My employer does have a process for requesting software, but it's a very large company and requires that it go through a whole vetting process and security audits before having it added to the approved software list. I'm already applying some pressure to have some more important software added and am trying not to burn up all the good will I may have 😅.

I am actually able to connect to the VIA web app, but I don't have any compatible devices currently. It's very possible though that we may have some software or policy that will block it when I attempt to do so though (it's not unusual to be able to connect to a website and do certain things only to have specific actions trigger some piece of our security suite). Knowing what the average user is like I can't really fault them for it, but it is annoying.

All that said, would you have a recommendation for the cheapest VIA pad on Aliexpress that I could buy to test with?

Barely. Manchin and Sinema kept torpedoing just about any legislation that would have been actually beneficial. Though with this specific topic it appears that eight Democrats voted against it, which is still far fewer than the number of Republicans that voted against it.

That's not to say I'm some Democrat apologist or shill, I have so many problems with the party, but for issues like these it seems like they are the lesser of two evils and if their majority margins could increase it would likely have an effect on issues like these.

They had the majority in name only two of the Dems were almost more liberal Republicans and any attempt to force some of the more liberal legislation through was torpedoed by those two consistently.

Currently Google has bricked RCS for people with rooted phones in such a way that it fails silently for like the 4th time this year, and it's looking like the modders may not be able to keep getting around it.

Unless you are running a rooted phone in which case Google says to go fuck yourself. If your phone doesn't pass Play Integrity they will not allow RCS to work (among other things) but they don't even indicate that to the user. It just silently doesn't work.

Play Integrity Fix is a mod that addresses this, but recently Google has been fighting back and breaking the way the mod works every other month. Their last salvo was middle of last week and last I checked the XDA thread a solution had not been found yet.

When not even my closest coworkers or boss could tell if I was working or screwing off because working on or doing research for my personal projects is indistinguishable from my work ones 😅

The super duper shitty thing is that they could have canceled it by opening the Run dialog box and typing "shutdown -a", so it's not even like canceling wasn't an option. M$ just decided to be dicks about it

Isn't that essentially worse? I get it on an individual level and having near private access to that much outdoors would be pretty sweet, but even if a small, but sizeable, portion of the population wanted something similar how tenable would it be?

That's fair. I was definitely using your question to voice something I have been thinking about for a while, more than actually addressing it/you specifically. Sorry about that.

Is their funding method viable for every single journalism outlet though? Or maybe there better question would be, for every article posted, is there a 501c3 (or otherwise sustainably funded) news outlet that has published coverage on the same story?

I'm not disagreeing or agreeing with you, I'm just writing out some of my own indecision on the topic. Journalism is vitally important but it seems like it's very difficult for people to make a living doing it and I don't know what the answer is.

If memory serves, the bump from a "standard" new video game costing $50 to $60 happened around 2010. Accounting for inflation that $60 is a little over $70, so it doesn't seem entirely unreasonable for them to be $70 even if I don't like it.

I wish I could remember where I saw it, but years ago I read something in relation to policing that said a certain amount of human inefficiency in a process is actually a good thing to help balance bias and over reach that could occur when technology could technically do in seconds what would take a human days or months.

In this case if a person is enough of a problem that their face becomes known at certain branches of a store it's entirely reasonable for that store to post a sign with their face saying they are aren't allowed. In my mind it would essentially create a certain equilibrium in terms of consequences and results. In addition to getting in trouble for stealing itself, that individual person also has a certain amount of hardship placed on them that may require they travel 40 minutes to do their shopping instead of 5 minutes to the store nearby. A sign and people's memory also aren't permanent, so it's likely that after a certain amount of time that person would probably be able to go back to that store if they had actually grown out of it.

Or something to that effect. If they steal so much that they become known to the legal system there should be processes in place to address it.

And even with all that said, I'm just not that concerned with theft at large corporate retailers considering wage theft dwarfs thefts by individuals by at least an order of magnitude.
