Jokes on them, my limit is wildly low compared to this. Most sports games are worth 20 bucks max at this point, the main content is just reskinned gameplay with updated stats and an unnecessary twist on controls. Its DLC.
It's honestly wild, and ranges from stuff that I can only assume is due to people playing on their phones and half-watching, to a level of ignorance about storytelling that basically requires the plot being exposition dumped for them to grasp it. I genuinely don't get it, and it can make recommending good shows/movies difficult.
This is one of those weird family connections I've known about for a while, but have to keep reminding myself its real. My brain refuses to associate those two people.
They don't, they just get ready to clutch their pearls and say "well, I never..." when it happens again. These people are from the same stock that let Hitler rise to power, and thought appeasement was the best way to deal with aggressive authoritarians. Anything short of full liberation of Ukraine's territory only encourages Russian belligerence.
You want to save lives? You make it clear to Russia this kind of shit will only leave them bloodied and empty handed.
Which is honestly how I'm starting to feel all corporate fines should be. You want to slow walk a solution or request for a few days to feel big, you can do that for a few hundred thousand or more (that's free money baby, and it should be put towards the public). You want to actually play hard ball? You will be staring down the barrel of complete financial ruin.
Now if we can just add more opportunity for criminal charges I'll be happy.
There've been fantastic CRPGs in the last handful of years. Off the top of my head: Divinity Original Sin 2 (2017), PoE/PoE2(2015/2018), Tyranny(2016), Torment: Tides of Numenera(2017), Pathfinder Kingmaker/WotR(2018/2021), and Disco Elysium1 (2019).
There's definitely been a comeback, I feel like I've been eating good on that side for a while now.
1Play this game if you haven't. It's so fucking good
"Man, my job pays horribly and the benefits barely cover anything, but they have a ping-pong table so it's honestly a tough call."
I struggle to understand how someone could seriously write something like that question without a lack of self-awareness so dire that a walk to the kitchen would come with a near-death experience. It just can't be real.
We can do more than one thing. We should constantly be reassessing voting to make it easier and safer as new technologies and processes develop (seriously, why are we not doing mail-in everywhere?). It will be hard to implement effective changes without significant political capital. So in addition, we don't have a choice but to be shouting from the rooftops that it's partially our fault it got this bad, and it's our responsibility to fix it.
I talk a lot of politics (I'm very popular at parties /s), and easily the most common response is along the lines of "I don't vote, what's the point?" or just pure ignorance of anything beyond some headlines and a casual disregard for civic duty. We have majorly slipped, and people by and large have entirely taken society and it's framework for granted. I genuinely think people need a kick in the ass from fellow citizens to focus up and not pretend apathy isn't part of the problem. There's no chance we fix anything without motivating a huge block of the population that just doesn't prioritize these things for a multitude of reasons.
Obviously, this also means those of us that don't have a difficult time voting should be volunteering where possible and donating to like-minded causes when that's not an option. We should be having frank political discussions and not straying away from calling out absurdities. It's not fun, there's no glory therein, it just needs to be done. Nations don't endure on belief alone.
yeah man, just like you go scuba diving oo-nderwater.
it's a dead end. We can't pretend that "g" can't also be pronounced as "j", or that the words making up the acronym matter. It's all preference and since GIF's dad called it "jif", I'm gonna call it "jif". At least that's based on something beyond my own hubris.
I mean, the answer is "Your vehicle is too large to park here." It's one of the reasons I drive a smaller car, parking is a bitch where I'm from and I'd hate passing up spots because I can't fit.
Surprisingly, I don't think it was supposed to mean "black" here. Felt more like the "he's ignoring everyone not living in a city, something something liberal elites" line to me. Really could go either way though, it's not like the shit she says makes any sense.
And I don’t really understand, besides, how exactly replacing some energy emissions in random places with other emissions in random places will greatly help to cool the planet.
There's some truth to this, but it's hard to argue electric cars aren't a marginal improvement (especially as "green" energy becomes more prevalent). The key is also using this time to improve public transportation, and making adjustments that eliminate unnecessary travel (e.g. work from home). If nothing else it's a step in the right direction considering the massive cultural shift that's already underway.
Never, ever become a nurse's assistant if you can't handle horrible smells :)
This cannot be overstated. It can be rough. It's important to know what you're getting into. The worst places I've been have CNAs that are not cut out for the job, and straight up hide during shifts to push the gross/arduous tasks to already heavily-burdened nurses. That is no bueno and it ends with burnt out nurses and much worse patient care.
At the same time, good CNAs are an absolute godsend. Literally could not do my job as well as I do without CNAs kicking ass, so much appreciation for you guys.
Came here to say this. I'm able to easily handle much of the gross side of medicine/care, but that smell sticks with you. First time I was assigned a patient with c-diff I went in thinking I was prepared. Such arrogance...
I'm going to be annoying and tell you that you were mildly shocked, not electrocuted. "Electrocute" specifically refers to lethal exposure to electricity, as a portmanteau of "electric" and "execute".
Though I think the word is starting to go the way of "literally".
I have a hard time chalking stuff like that up to pure propaganda or purposeful exclusion. I went to very conservative schools in very conservative states, and I still learned about a lot of "controversial" topics that come up in these conversations.
I think a lot of it is people forgetting something they were taught in school. I've absolutely forgotten a hell of a lot.
