  • There's nothing that I can say to disprove those points. I do have to say that Bernie gaining as much popularity as he did let's me see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm pushing 40, always been very left. 1st primary I voted for Dennis Kucinich. Seeing someone with the same talking points and advocate for, generally, the same overall policy agenda get as much mainstream traction as Bernie has does inspire some optimism. Voter turnout in the primaries is so huge, I would also like to see the Dems ditch the EC model for their primaries as well. Biden got elected on the backs of Southern black votes (holdover good will from him being Obamas VP) and that caused him to win deep red states that he would never win in the general. Though I'm hoping Georgia turning blue wasn't an anomaly.

  • Ska punk is splitting hairs for sure. Legit saw someone with the specials on their list lol

  • Well, they had one albums worth of songs then one member quit. Then other members just added Lars Fredrickson and became Rancid. Like, I love op-iv but rancid scratches that itch and people prob want some more diversity in their list.

    1. Dead Kennedys
    2. NoFX
    3. Leftover crack/choking victim
    4. Black Flag
    5. Propagandhi

(Dishonorable mention to Justin Sane. Anti-Flag was a huge part of me developing my sense of ethics and social justice. Sad about what a dick he turned out to be.)

  • 100% this is why I'm hoping for community service. Done in a very public facing way. Putting a near 80 year old on jail for a first time offense would show bias. However, him show contempt for the justice system and his instance of making a spectacle of the entire process should be a major consideration. Have him, legit, in a reflective vest picking up trash, would be considered a light sentence if you consider the range of punishments. It would definitely, attempt, to force some agenda of teaching humbleness. Hearing his complaints, or his supporters, saying that he's too old for that type of work would take so much wind out of the sails out of old Joe narrative.

Maybe I'm just rationalizing for my popcorn motives though lol

  • For me it was "Dear Zachary". Mostly because it's a documentary, not because it's gory or anything. It's just a heart wrenching documentary.

  • Uninstall, delete and vote for people who will raise his taxes.

  • Twisting the definition of truth to lick the boot of musk. What a tool.

  • He owns the platform and actively dismantled fact checking and moderation. Your point is shit.

  • Ticket sale revenue* a little deductive reasoning should have made that obvious. It seems obvious that being obtuse is a cornerstone of your thought process though.

Ticket sales go to the individual teams. The TV deals are split amongst the NBA as a whole as shared revenue. The pool of funds the players get paid out of are out of the shared money for the NBA. It's two separate pools. The players get paid the same regardless of ticket sales. The point your trying to make is that the ticket sales or hot dog prices effect lebrons salary. Which makes it obvious that you are talking out of your ass.

Money made during events are kept by the home team. So, you're mad at profit gouging of the owners over ticket prices. Which is totally irrelevant to player salary under CBA of the union. Your original comment was that players are overpaid and they should lower ticket prices. When the ticket prices are totally irrelevant to player salary. You don't know what you are talking about. You. Fucking. Idiot.

  • Do you actually know anything about sports economics? Ticket sales are determined by the individual teams and are a separate pie from the money used to determine players salary. The salary cap is determined by the tv deals which have nothing to do with the points you thought you were making.

Useless idiots should try to learn a little bit about what their talking about before they show their ass in a comment section.

  • The WNBA does have a union. They WNBA also have strong ties to the NBA itself. If the WNBA tries to run with replacement players they would face backlash from the NBA players union. Because it's essentially the same owners/management group.

  • The nba has been around for 50 years longer. The WNBA is a subsidiary of the NBA. There was never really a market for women's basketball. There barely is now, after 25 years of the WNBA existing. The NBA runs at a 1.6 billion dollar profit while the WNBA runs at a 22 million dollar loss.

Making a profit is, traditionally, a part of a professional sports league.

  • They do have a union. They just have zero leverage because the wnba isn't profitable. They go on strike, lose an entire year and the owners save money. I'm not going to call the wnba a charity case for the NBA because it does have value in promoting the sport itself. That value is too abstract to put into a cba negotiation though.

  • "Profitablity is irrelevant."

It's not possible to take your opinion seriously. The WNBA has existed for 25 years and has never turned a profit. If it was an independent league it wouldn't exist. Thinking that's irrelevant in a cba is goofy af.

  • I always push back when I hear people say athletes get paid too much. The money's on the table. It either goes to the owners, who likely inherent the team or are independently billionaires, or the players. The players are lucky to get 5 years to make as much money as possible, they deserve it way more than the owners.

  • Profit or revenue? Idk latest numbers but iirc the wnba lost 12 million in 2019 alone. The total value of the wnba is 1 billion dollars. For context, Steve Ballmer bought the clippers for 2 billion.

The entire wnba has a value that is half the value of the number 2 team in the LA market. Baller bought the team in 2014 btw, so it's half the value from 10 years ago. I think the most recent sale was when an investment group paid 3 billion for majority share of the hornets about a year ago. By that measure the wnba is worth, maybe a quarter, of one of the least valuable franchises in the nba.

Plus these are rookie scale contracts. That's pretty standard part of union collective bargaining. The union wants available funds to go to veteran players. You can't really make a strong argument for those funds being too low when the league has never turned a profit in 25 years.

  • "Uncut Colombian" is a drug reference for cocaine. He's just trying to say it's the "best of the best".
