I grew up in Nassau County. It (and the rest of Long Island) are way more conservative than you'd expect given the proximity to NYC. But that's not unusual in New York, most cities are staunchly blue, but the suburbs and rural areas red.
I live in the US and it's becoming more and more unusual in many places to see people smoking. As a result, I see fewer discarded cigarette butts than ever. Still not zero, but getting there.
I thought most of the closed subs were forced back open by mass firings and replacement of the mods. I visit a couple of local subs but without an account so my view of Reddit isn't what you'd see as a member.
The US was able to leverage its natural resources, large population, and manufacturing capacity to help the Allies win WWII. In the vacuum created by so much of Europe dealing with rebuilding, it was able to do pretty much anything it wanted to, anywhere it wanted to. It's easy to have things your way when there's no one strong enough to say no.
Predictably, the US abused that power worldwide and mistook the lack of complaints as validation. That began to change in the 70s and the power has been decreasing ever since. Now most of the world not only doesn't want us, they no longer need us. All TFG and his toadies are doing is giving the rest of the world the opportunity to tell us to fuck off with having to say fuck off.
That horse left the stable a long time ago. Once the MAGA crowd latches onto something they don't let go. They're still claiming TFG won in 2020, for crying out loud.
