  • You'd hear me shout, "again?! Damn it".

I got a bunch of antique lamps and a wood fired stove. I also got a generator for the fridge and freezer. So I'll be fine until the cannibals come knocking. If the town runs out of gas I'll just cook everything and invite everyone.

  • Hurry

  • The motherboard in my computer is basically dead. Every morning I must perform voodoo to get just one more post.

But my computer is fairly old now and I can't justify just replacing the board for more money than upgrading the platform. 😔

  • https://dietpi.com/ has hand tailored images for many small devices including the pis and a robust installer with a wizard for many things including a media center setup.

if you configure a jellyfin server (not on the pi) to share your media to most pi devices using h264 it should work well. (basically, its questionable if the pi can handle transcoding on its own, so its best to do it ahead of playback or from another box)

  • I had a wireless charger melt a few years back cause I had a chunk of metal in my phone case.

Does this new standard include safety checks for stuff like that?

  • Yeah, I had no idea going into that movie. Almost all the movies AnnaSophia stars in are like that to my surprise.

  • I really don't know. All I can say was he was one of the lucky 10,000 that day.

  • +1 for bridge to terabithia. That movie still chokes me up.

  • I once had a tech support ticket for a computer not turning on. When I checked it out, they had connected a power bar to itself. This 40yr old man genuinely didn't understand why that wouldn't work.

  • In my experience every chat group has a person that's the glue. What I mean is sometimes unintentionally that group chat only reacts when the glue person(s) are engaging. So if you work out who that is in your group and have them engage with you, it'll become lively.

  • You make a wonderful point.

I'd pick 1999, Akihabara. So I can experience early anime culture at the source.

  • Depending on your comfort level and cash flow.

You could host a mediawiki server on something like ovh or digital ocean.

Alternatively Atlassian has a software suite that matches your needs I figure.

There's also Microsoft OneNote that's fairly popular. I believe you can use it through their cloud services. And depending on your education institution's policy it might be free if you ask their IT department.

  • Can I choose the future? Ideally some sort of utopia like the federation in startrek?

History hasn't been kind. I would probably need to cosplay a business tycoon or something to survive earlier.

If I go too far back it'll probably be nice. But I'd probably die due to an infection brought on by my autoimmune issues.

  • I haven't tried setting up jellyfin myself. However, if you're able to use pcie passthrough on your container, you could probably use any spare card you might have? (assuming it fits and your psu can handle it)

  • This never worked for me and my friends.

  • Gen 2, Crystal. Was my favourite. I found the character selection and graphical upgrade was really nice. Gen 2 includes the previous game world. Collecting all the badges again was special.

But I played Gen 1, Blue the most. The missingno trick was a bunch of fun and it was my first gameboy game.

Edit: my friend said Soul Silver is peak and sun/moon is a close 2nd place.

  • Oh thanks I must have missed that in the title.

The xeon does have more cache too. So if the GPU acceleration is the make or break it option. You could toss a card in there.

  • I'm assuming you're talking about version 1 of the 2620.

Although the xeon is the weaker processor, if you're planning on having those containers active together the larger thread count will potentially be more beneficial than the faster i7.

But this is one of those things where you'd need to test against both and see. Since there's a bunch at play.
