I was big on Kelly but recently seeing Waltz as a better pick. Waltz has a stronger record on labor and could help capture blue-collar voters in the Midwest. Plus he's gone on Fox News to call out Trump.
If he was afraid of her splashing him with boiling water, why advance on her? He should be moving back to avoid being close enough to be threatened. Even giving him the maximum benefit of the doubt his actions created the situation. It's like if a cop steps out in front of your vehicle in traffic and then shoots you because you were about to run him over. Even if you believe she was threatening him, he still murdered her because he caused it to happen.
I think a moderate VP pick from a swing state covers some gaps for a Harris ticket. He could also bring more votes from servicemembers. I wouldn't necessarily say he would be the best president but he would be good for the campaign.
It's completely reasonable to hold the Secret Service to account for a near-assassination of a former president and current candidate. It's not reasonable to attack the director for being a woman. Even when they have a legitimate grievance, conservatives find a way to be their worst selves.
Further, Bernie and AOC are rather well aware that the progressive wing of the party would likely be blamed for "party disunity" if Biden stayed in and lost. They will not do anything to let the DNC scapegoat their caucus.
Yeah, I mean the AI being shoveled at us by techbros. Actual ML stuff is currently and will continue to be useful for all sorts on not-sexy but vital research and production tasks. I do task automation for my job and I use things like transcription models and OCR, my company uses smart sorting using rapid image recognition and other really cool uses for computers to do things that humans are bad at. It's things like LLMs that just aren't there - yet. I have seen very early research on AI that is trained to actually understand language and learns by context, it's years away, but eventually we might see AI that really can do what the current AI companies are claiming.
Back in the 90s in college I took a Technology course, which discussed how technology has historically developed, why some things are adopted and other seemingly good ideas don't make it.
One of the things that is required for a technology to succeed is public acceptance. That is why AI is doomed.
It's just a plausible mechanism for immortality since it exists in nature and it lets you be young again. It would be nice not to have all the random pains and aches that come with age and get a reset on physical youth when needed.
It's more like biotic reversal so no time travel, just suddenly de-aging until just before biological puberty in a similar fashion as turritopsis dohrnii, the immortal jellyfish. Ideally, memory and personality remain intact. Afterwards, aging begins again normally so it's effective biological immortality.
How brazen do you have to be to get convicted of bribery as a congresscritter? If he had just had a fundraising dinner with $500k plates he'd have been totally fine, but no he went with stuffing gold bars into his clothes. It just shows how these people think that consequences are for other people.
