I voted yesterday in a packed blue district. It was crowded, which is good, but there was a notable absence of young voters, which is bad. Hopefully, this just means that experienced voters are more likely to vote on the first day of early voting and first time voters can be convinced to go to the polls before or on election day.
It will also motivate Trump voters to get to the polls to counter. Plus a 2-1 at this point just shows Democrat enthusiasm being high, which is good, but early vote numbers are a poor predictor of election outcomes.
It's not that grey. It is expressly illegal to pay someone to register to vote and a lottery prize is specifically called out in the statute as a forbidden form of compensation. It is a felony and punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
What CAH is doing is a grey area, paying people to create a voting plan isn't mentioned in the law so it skirts around the legality of it. This should probably also be illegal as a form of voter compensation but may require the law to be amended.
My issue wasn't with the show, but with Paramount+ as an app with it's 60+ trackers. I actually really like the show, just not enough to deal with Paramount's spyware.
Remember, going negative is an effort to suppress turnout for the opposition. Trump voters are much more likely to wait until election day to vote, she gets extra time to convince them to just stay home, to not overcome everyday obstacles or just focus on other things.
If thinking about Trumps failing mental health makes a potential Trump voter uncomfortable, they might just be a little too busy or too tired or too stressed out about other things to deal with the cognitive dissonance of going to the polls to choose him.
It doesn't need to work on a lot of people, but shaving off a fractional percent in key states could make a big difference.
I really, really dislike social situations that don't have formal structure to them. Professionally I can talk to strangers no problem, because roles and expectations are set, similarly I can go to a tabletop gaming convention and play games with people and it's fine.
I struggle in situations where the rules are more nebulous, but I still manage it. It just takes practice. I definitely lean on my husband for that type of thing when I can though.
Canceling the CNBC interview I could see after getting thumped in Chicago, but canceling a softball rally where he would certainly be lavished with obsequious adulation suggests a health issue. Undoubtedly the grueling campaign trail is taking its toll on him.
The design there is basically the telephony equivalent to dark patterns. Like endless IVR loops. Throw as many roadblocks in the way of someone trying to cancel while not technically making it impossible: outsource your cancellation department and make sure they use a lossy codec so everything sounds like mud. Then the agent will try to beg you off for another month and, if successful, the thought of having that horrible experience again will discourage you from taking action.
This certainly makes me happy that Biden and not Trump was in office when Putin invaded. Trump would have handed Ukraine over on a platter to daddy Vladdy.
It's strategy. Many American swing voters own guns, the Republican messaging is that Kamala will take all those guns away, so this 'admission' is intended to make it permissible for those on-the-fence gun owners to vote for her.
Kamala has secret service protection, she will likely have security around her for the rest of her life. She doesn't need to own a gun. This is just messaging and posturing to capture votes, please recognize it for what it is.
People who died of COVID usually didn't die with COVID. People who are looking for a reason to blame anything but the virus for deaths point at that distinction as though it is somehow meaningful.
With this model everything about you will be shared with every appliance in the vicinity.
