  • the term won't be "prison break" but will depend on the jurisdiction that holds the person. if you are being detained by the state police, you'll get something like "fleeing and eluding" but it depends on your local laws. if you're in US federal custody then it depends on what they charge you with and how they detain you.

Fleeing would be a separate charge itself. the eighth amendment could get it thrown out but you'd still be able to be charged with it and would at least need to stand trial to be charged within X amount of time.

if, however, you're illegally detained and the constitution is clearly being violated, then the perpetrators will need to be held accountable. don't worry about it. you can just wait for the government checks and balances system to save you. they'll be here any minute now. aaaany minute now.

  • in a just world, not one centered around corporate interests, you would lose your license for this. instead, the automotive industry has to ensure that there's plenty of drivers to buy their cars, so we can't be too harsh on our licensing laws.

I guess it doesn't matter. 50,000 deaths per year due to traffic accidents is a fair price to pay for the freedom to sit in traffic.

  • "why do I need to be included" sounds a bit harsh and could be met with "because I said so". instead maybe try something along the lines of "how will this meeting benefit my work?" or "how might I contribute?"

  • during the API purge the did a mass undeletion of everything, I think. stuff I wrote and deleted years ago was unearthed. People were deleting things en masse and reddit threw a fit. they went beyond undeleting recent things and just restored literally everything, it seems

  • What if you had a player who wanted to secretly backstab and subvert the party, in character? They'd play as if they were part of the team, but in between sessions the player would communicate with the DM and decide ways to betray the party, with in-game consequences. It was the worst campaign I've ever been in. I still wonder if it was bad DMing or I'm just sour.

  • I tried going down this line of thinking too, but any assumption you make is predicated on the belief that they would use means that we are familiar with. Just because we do not know of a way to do such and such does not mean it does not exist. This post is referring to a fundamental epistemic problem.

  • Congrats on being an exception to the penulatimate part of your comment then? My point is that "hivemind" is already a thought-terminating cliche. If you're using it while seeking in-depth conversation, what do you expect to get? Hence me saying you "might as well be" such as such -- which is very different from treating you like an enemy. Seems like you gave a bit of that hostility back though! And why? Because this conversation revolves around a thought-terminating cliche like "hivemind".
