  • The shutting down and dismantling is the point. If the public health care system fails, private health care is more palatable, poor people die (and with the affordability crisis ongoing, most people are closer to this bucket) or stay sick and rich people get richer.

  • The Canadian system is triaged according to priority, as opposed to who can or can't afford it. I've had several MRIs, including one during the height of COVID, and have never waited more than a few weeks. One was scheduled a couple of months out and then moved up after a radiologist reviewed my x-rays. Granted one of them was at 3am but would rather have answers and an inconvenient appointment time

  • I used to feel the same way with mirrors and actually wanted to write into my will that all photos of me must be destroyed upon my death. The idea of being permanently recorded terrified me.

I think therapy really helped, since if anything my appearance has strayed further from my mental image. That's not to say it's the same for you. It's a relief to me that I'm not the only one who has felt this way, and I hope that you find some relief from the feeling itself too.

  • I just learned about this, and think I have it too, to an extent. I've grown more comfortable as I move age and transform closer to the hag witch I was born to be.

It's called a fear of being perceived, or scopophobia. Apparently it's common with neurodivergence (though I personally wouldn't consider myself neurodivergent- at least not enough to seek a diagnosis).

  • I try to treat everyone as though I might be the first drop of kindness they have seen in some time, and my mantra when I find it difficult is "be kindness"- as in, choose the kindest option available to me at the time.

THAT SAID, I would not call myself a nice person, and if I was asked this I would elaborate that I try to be kind. I've known a handful of people who call themselves nice and I've been disappointed in their lack of patience and grace for others. Nice people don't need to say they're nice.

  • Even if they don't make up 1% of Steam's catalogue (though I doubt that figure), they have had real impact.

It's ok to not like them personally, but to say no one cares is disingenuous. Balatro doesn't require much in terms of hardware but is having a real moment right now. Stardew Valley has been killing it for 8 years. People have thousands of hours in Rimworld.

Indie games are also great for community and modders.
