  • You can argue about this all day long. The web was invented on a Next computer, created by Steve Jobs, written in C or maybe C++, also invented by Americans.

Point is, a thousand different things had to come together from all over the world to create the modern Internet. I don't think it's accurate to say only one entity was responsible for it.

Edit: A gigantic amount of the Internet and its infrastructure runs on an OS written by a dude from Finland.

  • They always forget about the rubber hose exploit.

  • WonkaVision on the fritz again. Someone get those little orange sysadmins in here.

  • It's just for fun. I can slip into Fedora's costume too.

  • Once it clicks you'll think the drive letter thing is stupid. I can have 10 partitions from five different drives all seamlessly mounted on the filesystem on various paths and any program using them would be none the wiser.

  • the beginners who try it are constantly asking questions about why their generated code doesn’t work

Because it ain't here to generate all their code for them. It's a glorified autocomplete and suggestion engine. When are people gonna get this? (not you, just in general)

I use CoPilot myself, but if you have absolutely no idea what you're doing yourself, you and CoPilot will both quickly hit a dead end together. It doesn't actually understand what you want the code to do. Only what is similar to what you have already written or prompted for, which may be some garbage picked up from a noob on the web somewhere. Books and research using your meatbrain are still very much needed.

  • There ya go, good for developing hand-eye coordination, upper body strength, and fine motor control. Archery is a fun and wholesome hobby.

  • I still think it's incredible that we just willingly hand these randomly elected fuckers the buttons to the ICBM arsenal with the most minimal of checks. Did the possibility for an unhinged president never enter into anybody's mind?

  • I had to start using my damn phone alarm again after my useless Google speakers failed to trigger them a couple times. WTF, do they save the alarms on the cloud or something? Seems like something that should be running locally and should rarely fail, it's a damn alarm, not a Space Shuttle.

  • I'm ASD and I'm also human, gimme the cold hard facts so I can absorb them like I do everything else without having to strip the clutter. Everything else is useless to me.

  • I made a hobby PCB with indicator LEDs and I have to admit that was the reason for my choice. The surface mount frosted "milky" ones look especially great, where they have the diffusion layer so it's not a harsh glare.

  • Open source software solves that kind of hidden bullshit.

  • What if your eyes don't turn red anymore? That's a thing. I can be high as balls and nobody would know until I open my stupid stoner mouth.

  • I suppose nobody read the article before pulling the "Elon bad" trigger (I get it though). This is happening the same way Toyotas end up in the hands of ISIS. They're being smuggled through all kinds of back channels and the true account user is not the same as the account owner.

I don't think this is one we can fully blame him for. These Starlink systems are just too convenient and useful for a less advanced military to not try to take advantage of it somehow.

  • I feel very strange hating Windows, so I use Linux, but loving VS Code, so I use that on Linux. I feel like a hypocrite or something.

But the integration with platformio, github copilot, and all the plugins and customization are just too nice. It's a one-stop shop for everything dev-related. It's the only thing I need to run when programming along with a web browser for research.
