To what extend are you grateful for free services?

There are services open source or free closed source which are in need of donations.
VPNs do Not need your gratitude. The cost of running a VPN per user is extremely low (just look at the market prices to subscribe to a vpn). Even less for a for profit company. For vpn I would use one offering the best services for the needs at lower cost.
Making a donation to an open source or free service (which doesn't try to scam you, or get your wallet) would require more effort, but bring more satisfaction because it would keep that open source useful project afloat.
Tho if you like a service and you need more from it, do pay for it. I'm not saying you shouldn't.
It can be a pre-planned trade. However they also could have waited for the shares to be sold then make the announcement.
Who knows. I'm not here as a judge.
I don't know about dual boot. Maybe windows has to be installed first. Never tried it.
Tho I know that it is possible during the drive choice, in the windows install, to select an empty space, then clic on the create partition, and there creating a sufficiently big enough partition for windows will create 3 partitions : The boot, reserved and windows. Then just select the main windows partition, and it will auto detect the boot and reserved partition.
However that is happening on an empty drive. I do not know what can happen on a drive where there is already an OS.
Windows 11 can be used, however a oobe command needs to be input at install, without Internet, to not have to use an online account. Tho windows may ask later to connect with an online account.
For an alternative, windows may also be used in a VM. There may also be a way to pass through all the main gpu if needed, and switch between Linux / windows. But I didn't really use it. So I don't know where it is or what are the steps.
If the Linux os needs to be used, but the gpu also has to be in the vm, there is a way to split it. Tho the last time I checked (4+ months ago) the project was incompatible with amd due to some kernel/driver stuff. I sadly lost the link to it...
You do not need to purchase windows 10/11 to use it.
And maybe if you really want to purchase windows, you may find very cheap keys online.
In France I can find win11 keys for 20-30 cents on Cdiscount. Most of the time, you just need to input the key after installing windows.
Nothing "new" that hasn't been shared already :
- Unity top leaders selling stock before the announcement
- they proposing "special" deal to not get the per install fee applied if the devs opt in to use only Unity's advertising plaform in order to kill competition.
- Unity getting death threats from employees.
Wtf is this stupid trash article about outsourcing to Jews controlling everything.
Don't loose your time with this.
It's peace of trash article. Just down vote the post.
OpenVPN vs WireGuard
On the website :
Wireguard is clearly seen by firewalls as a VPN by only allowing UDP packets
However proton Vpn în their app, they have a "wireguard TCP" setting.
Which is also confusing as on their wireguard marketing page, there is a faq where they say openvpn supports tcp in a ways as it supports TCP but not wireguard.
It'd the nvidia x panel or whatever. It's pretty empty compared to windows.
Isn't there a color setting in gnome settings?
I don't remember exactly where. Maybe this can help https://help.gnome.org/users/gnome-help/stable/color.html.en
p7zip doesn't seem to be maintained anymore, 2016 seems to be last update (direct link to source forge from the 7zip website).
However a direct official cli port seems to have been created. Not sure if it can be installed through a repo, or if it has to be downloaded from the 7zip website.
I saw some older threads saying it wasn't maintained anymore
Isn't there a command line 7zip for Linux + custom gui for it, or from another compression manager software?
That is because recent laptops don't "sleep" like before with s4 (hybernate) or other sx.
They have some sort of tucking clock waiting for windows to wake up to check for updates.
In theory it allows to keep everything up to date while people are not working.
However un proactice, it drains battery and overheats laptops, because Microsoft implemented that feature like crap, or the partners did some stupid things.
It was supposed to only activate when the laptop was plugged in. However if the laptop was plugged in, put on sleep, then unplugged, windows still believed that the laptop was plugged in.
Now I don't know if windows ever solved that issue after people brought it up and Linus from Linus tech tips complained to Microsoft.
Because it doesn't show the conspiracy theory enhancing the authors conspiracy anti-covid/anti-moon landing opinion :
meaning you will never find the truth about the moon landing or COVID vaccines there even if the query asks for exactly that. What you will find - though - is a bunch of irrelevant "fact check" or "science loving" sites, or ones shitting on "conspiracy theorists".
Wtf. Didn't even have to go too far. Here in the brave section
meaning you will never find the truth about the moon landing or COVID vaccines there even if the query asks for exactly that. What you will find - though - is a bunch of irrelevant "fact check" or "science loving" sites, or ones shitting on "conspiracy theorists".
WTF is wrong with this person.
This "article" is about spreading search engine for people doing "their own research" and making the US look stupid on TV or something.
I am for no "censorship", however sometimes it is needed, because as for the example of the vaccines or moonlanding, people may je mislead, then search s* online and get a trash conspiracy article which enhances that stupid opinion. In this case there needs to be a way to spread good information.
Because you don't wash them in a good way lol
Or because you have the worst clothes ever.
When you wash clothes look for the instructions at which temperature you need to wash them. If you can put them in a drier...
Dont let clothes dry in a dryer machine, only let them a bit, then let them dry on a drying rack or whatever it's called. Careful with clothes which aren't rated to go into the drier, use low temperature, and never let them a long time if you put them in a dryer machine.
If they seem chemical, or have a bad smell, check if the washing machine washes well, or use another program to wash them more, or a short program to wash them again, only with water.
Maybe try another detergent, or put less of it.
Also, if as other comments said, if you use a softener, try without.
Yeah it's pretty easy to understand that the 84 is the professional reviews. I guess there aren't just 64 people who put a comment, but 6190 who put a comment (from the image in the post).
The more professional reviews come out the more the score has a chance to go down compared to the first reviews if they were very high. And give some sort of average.
However profesional review scores don't always align to what most users think, as people like different things, but also the users get very much bothered by a bad start. While the reviewers will give a score on the entire game.
Well some part of the bad reviews are the stupid battle between xbox and ps users going to leave bad reviews because it's an exclusive...
And there are the genuine people leaving good and bad reviews.
But I can see such a score. The game isn't that great from all the reviews I saw. And it seems to "become good" after 10 hours of play time...
If that is what it takes for a game to become good, it's not that great.

Do you know how much money Google has? It's enough to do whatever with that, even just keep the people away from competition.
Why Google did that or if it's even true? Not sure.
However Google is a big tech which develops software for a multitude of platforms, even Linux. They work on their own Linux mod : Android.
So they have all the people already in the company to do whatever they want on Linux.
They also have specific needs which may not need windows.
We however use excel and the advanced feature Power query and power Bi. So as long as a Foss alternative doesn't get to the level of the current insanely powerful excel and power bi, we'll be stuck on windows.

Do you know how much cost is involved in developing a peace of software?
Get what you need > a lot of time and good view of the company is needed.
Then either get a company to do it > expensive + no control on the software.
Or/
Make it yourself > extremely expensive + control on the software.
Get the right people > hiring campaign > expensive
Then these hired people represent more people to pay each month > expensive.
If there aren't right people, you need to teach the devs how to work on it > expensive formations and it's done on the working time, so double expensive.
Then time invested in creating the Linux distro adapted to the company > time, testing, mistakes, redo, undo... expensive.
(let's not forget about taxes and obligations towards the new workers).
Being grateful to a free service is a bit hard when a lot of those services use scummy marketing tactics...
There are some interesting, others well, maybe their free services are useful, but their tactics do not align and so it's difficult to want to support them just because I could. (mostly vpns have real trash marketing). I'd rather donate more to a charity.
