  • In it's current form it's good technology. It's all fine as long as you're chasing after crimes we all agree are bad* It's the slippery slope I'm worried about. Just a matter of time untill this is going to be used for something malicious we don't agree with.

*I don't care if front seat passengers wear a seatbelt or not as long as they're adults.

  • You don't even seem to get the terms right so makes me question how well informed you really are on the subject.

Autopilot is the most basic free driver assist version that comes with every Tesla. Then there's Enhanced Autopilot which costs extra and is more advanced and lastly there's Full Self Driving BETA. Even the name indicates you probably shouldn't trust your life with it.

  • They should really have called it something else than autopilot/FSD. It's a driver assist and everyone knows this but it's so easy to dunk on them when it fails because of the name though I'm 100% sure the system tells you to keep your eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel when you engage it. If you crash a "self driving" car it's the fault of the driver - not the vehicle.

  • Applies probably to all users. I'm getting a shit ton of bot followers aswell and have been for like half a year. I believe they're getting deleted on regular basis since my follower count isn't really growing despite the constant flow of new subscribtions. This isn't something that's just affecting Musk.

  • I asked for an alternative way to finance a house. You either save up yourself or you borrow from someone who has the assets. I don't see a third option.

Yeah ofcourse it would be nice if my mortage didn't have interest or had really low one like it did up untill about a year ago. I'm not against that if my bank decides to offer me such option but that's just fantasy and in no way relevant to the discussion. Ofcourse it would be beneficial to the vast majority of people if the wealthiest ones would settle for less. That's unfortunelately just not the case.

  • Then someone else will take that lender’s place.

Why would anyone do that when they get better return for their money elsewhere? You're basically expecting people to do charity or simply just be incompetent and make bad financial decisions thus effectively making you the scammer.

  • But if I'm a lender and I have spare money to invest I can always just put it into the stock market where I'm on average getting a 7% yearly return. It only makes sense to lend that money to an individual if I'm getting a better rate. Otherwise I'm just losing money.

  • But you're not getting any less money. If you can't afford something when you're getting paid once a month then you can't afford it if you're getting paid every day either.

This still sounds more like an issue with managing personal finances than anything.

  • But what's the alternative? Houses are going to be expensive no matter what. I only paid 100k for mine which is relatively cheap for a house but I still couldn't have afforded to buy it without taking a loan. My friends are now paying higher rent than I pay off my mortage every month. After 15 years or so I no longer need to pay the mortage AND I have a house I can sell but my friends are still paying rent and have nothing to show for it.

  • "Lying" by Sam Harris made me commit to not ever lying again

I have told one lie ever since and even that was a slip-up; a person came to me on the street asking for money and instead of saying no I said I didn't have any cash which was untrue. I still keep secrets and I will lie if refusing to answer reveals the truth. I will still not tell the whole truth and sometimes I simply omit things I don't want to reveal but what I don't do is say things that are untrue and this applies to while lies aswell.

Only after I started paying attention to this mysef I realized how often we lie unecessarily and how damaging it can be to our relationships even when your intentions may be good. You're basically treating people as if they're so vunerable that they can't handle the truth so you lie.

  • The interest-free loan part I get but I don't see how getting paid every week would help you deal with the unexpected $1000 expense. To me this just sounds more like being bad at dealing with personal finances than anything granted I'm in a privileged place since I don't live paycheck-to-paycheck
