That is why it is such a great learning tool. Sitting them down when they find out Santa isn't what they thought, and discussing that at school they will meet Christians who believe things as solidly as they believed in Santa, and that beliefs can be important to people, just as Santa was important to them, even though they might be wrong it isn't very nice to burst that bubble.... The kids get it, they understand fact and fiction better, and won't be tricked again. It is a great learning experience. And kids will play along with it and not ruin someone else's christmas.
If you read the text carefully, no one saw him alive after the crucifiction. Just some lights and some stuff magically moved around when no one was looking. No reason for him to have survived, if his followers were fast and quiet etc.
But yeah, there are several possible "sons of god" at the time. Jesus is just a confabulation of them.
It's not a stranger. Santa was a fairytale part of our family.
He left presents with the permission and collaboration of my parents. So he wasn't sneaking in without first consulting with them. No different to the comings and goings of my parents other friends and family. Theoretically they could have told him I was naughty, and not let him in.
If it's a real issue, for some weird reason, have him "post" the presents.
kids cotton on fast, but it is a fun game, no different to waking from your nap and finding out your grandfather flew in from overseas when you were sleeping.
You crashed Voyager on my first attempt. On my second attempt, I couldn't write anything. On my third atrempt now, and it is refusing to load the video at all.
The Left Hand of Darkness might be interesting. The Word for Tree is Forest would likely get thought of as an odd Avatar clone. But The Dispossessed would probably never get made, people would find worth in the politics and abandon the megacorp making it.
I make pork and vege wontons and freeze them in the deep freeze in packets. When I don't want to eat in the morning, I put a packet in the steamer and have a shower. When I get out on the shower alarm, I have hot cooked dumplings to eat. It is good even at 430AM.
But if you want no prep, not even the ease of a steamer, then stewed fruit from the fridge or a can, mixed with yoghurt and some nuts (or nut flour) and a handful of dry uncooked rolled oats. It takes zero time, and is good quality, and can change with the seasons.
It is nowhere near me, but the seabridge north of Wollongong, the one that goes to Sydney via St Helens, is pretty awesome.
But yeah, highways aren't as fun as real roads, but are functional for getting from point A to point B without having to slow down for point C in the middle.
Those aren't niche, but if you want other mainstream youtube channels like what you mentioned, can't go past Tasting History, Map Men, and Captain Disillusion, although that last one has mostly disappeared these days and probably shows my age.
I'm confused about that too. Apparently it is in the contract that you aren't allowed to take your device you legally purchased with you where you want, or to sell it after buying it? Or are they only allowed to sell their phone to people in the same country as themselves? Or something?
You have to remember the lack of a real wage that yank teachers have, their inability to unionise, etc. They have very low entry standards, but mostly it's the pay over there. Pay for a minimum wage teacher, you get a minimum wage teacher. Anyone with an education gets a better paid job. I hear stories about their teachers getting a second job to pay the rent. Never a good sign in any job.
Ran a similar campaign years ago of a for-profit ambulance service in Shadowrun. Difference there was they had to extract their paying customers before they died, yet didn't know to do so until after they'd hit the panic button. Good times.
I am fascinated by ow many answers I have seen on here were once a thing we could do, ten, twenty years ago, and can't any more. Like the TV with a goddamn switch on it so we can turn it off without a remote.
Having used Voyager for a month or more, there is rarely any clickable links in any of it. I miss being able to go "r/inserttaghere" but lemmy doesn't seem to link to anywhere the same way twice.
