  • I remember when they switched from 30 pin to lightning when I was in highschool. It was the best time to be a little shit, whenever someone asked if you had an iphone charger you could ask what kind they need and then say you have neither.

  • Reddit is old enough to vote and has several orders of magnitude more users. You can't create that much content organically overnight. As more content gets added it will attract more people who are interested in that content. In turn those users will contribute even more, even if it's just in the form of engagement and upvoting posts they like.

Lemmy is already experiencing some growing pains because the decentralized, user hosted nature of the platform will never be able to react quickly across all instances. We deal with it because we don't want to be controlled by one overarching entity and this is the ONLY alternative. Are there issues? Yes. Are there fewer issues than other social media sites? I don't know, but the problems are at least different and potentially more fixable in the long run.

  • Briahna Joy Gray, imagine if Ben Shapiro body swapped with Candace Owens and tried to copy Jimmy Dore. She was Bernie's press secretary in 2020 but he distanced himself from her and she is currently a Cornel West evangelist.

  • It's so bad, it feels like using an ipad. Notifications are buggy as hell and you can't even disable notification center with terminal like you could on x86 macs. I'm keeping an eye on Asahi linux but it seems a little too rough to be daily driveable yet.

Sort of unrelated but the apple support threads are all infuriating because they never answer the question. They embody the "it's not a bug" motto until it's clear there is a bug at which point they just say apple must be fixing it soon and to just keep your computer updated.

  • No he walked out on her and the kids, retained a divorce attorney then got enraged when she initiated the divorce... after finding out he was planning on divorcing her. Then someone leaked that video of him yelling at her while she's 8 months pregnant to put medicine on their dog. At least he burned the 50 million daily wire offered him, I wonder how that's going for him.

  • The gurus normal people trust have this pesky tendency to have advanced degrees and call themselves things like "doctors" and "therapists" as if either is better than being screamed at by a car salesman in a room full of sweaty divorces.

  • No you just put a cut on the end of their pointer finger on their dominant hand. That way every time they touch something it reminds them who their money belongs to. You save kneecapping for someone who you've lost all hope of paying you back and now their value to you is as an example for others.

  • This is really only applicable to buying new things on ebay. Last gen electronics are the only thing I buy new on ebay but even then good deals are pretty rare. At this point if you want a good deal you need to go back 2 generations usually. I saved around $800 on my macbook pro by buying a 2021 model NIB on ebay a few months ago. Asahi linux only runs on m1 anyway so that was my prefered processor over m2/3 anyway.

At least with apple, the warranty only starts when the product is activated, so as long as the original plastic wrap is still on it you will get the full factory warranty.

  • This is just ignorant lol. If you don't like lager you don't like lager but that doesn't mean it's the worst beer. I don't really like stout but I'm not going around saying it's the worst, it's all preference. There are tons of different types of lager if you actually look, plenty of micro brewers make them.

  • Your lungs can compress to equalize the pressure as you go deeper and expand as you come back up. As long as you start with ambient pressure air in your lungs you won't have issues.

The problem is breathing against the external pressure, you need gas pressure to help expand your lungs again after you exhale. The regulator keeps the air pressure equal to the external water pressure so breathing feels the same no matter how deep you go. With an open loop system you use air faster with depth because each breath is higher pressure and gets wasted when you exhale.

  • Doesn't iOS only use webkit based browsers? I would imagine the reason you can get ad blocking through brave is some kind of deal they have with google. Which probably means they're just giving them all the data google would collect normally.

Firefox on iOS doesn't have ad blocking because apple took support away in webkit. The only way brave could be doing it is by being white listed by the company serving the ad to you somehow.

Both Mac and iOS have issues with VPN usage too but that's unrelated to webkit.

  • Yes, and different materials will have different rates of thermal expansion. That's probably why the pixel 7 camera glass was cracking for no apparent reason when winter hit. Imagine coming out in the morning and finding all the glass in your car shattered because it got cold overnight. Or even worse you take it out of a heated garage on a cold day and the glass shatters while you're driving.
