I see your point. Well in case of my absence (for whatever reason), you could manually create a vote post of your own I suppose. It's not a lot of work if you keep two windows open side-by-side. Content wise all I did was paste the original source in each comment with the username on top. Considering the amount of submissions we have, it's probably just 15 minutes of work to do it by hand.
Worst case scenario, you could default back to counting the votes in the submission post?
I'll see if I can clean up my script and share it online though, just in case someone with Python knowledge would like to use it and improve on it.
I haven't seen Mo0Po0 online for some time, so maybe it would also be good to assign an extra moderator for the featuring and un-featuring posts in the community? I feel like my timezone is a bit of a disadvantage.
That's fine with me, but my Friday evening starts in CET, which might be afternoon for a lot of others. But you can decide when the voting ends, I put up 24 hours as a minimum.
Yea I made submission time a bit longer because I wanted to post the voting page on Saturday. It would give me some time to write the code and I thought it might get a bit more visibility over the weekend.

I have an old light green neck Buff made from bamboo fiber. It’s like three times the normal size so you have to wrap it multiple times around your neck which is great in cold weather.
And it’s so soft! I love wearing it the moment autumn turns cooler.
It’s getting a few holes so I hope it’ll still last a couple more years. They don’t sell this design anymore 😞
