  • In our lifetimes at least, yes. An aging population means more people who need help and less people to supply it. We all need more help as we get older, and we're already facing staff shortages for geriatric care. And of course if you're in the US, there's genuine fear of SS not being available once we're eligible to use it.

We could probably change course and mitigate these issues by increasing pay for Healthcare workers to incentivise taking care of the elderly, reducing or eliminating student debt so more people can seek higher education in Healthcare, improved access to Healthcare to prevent problems while we're young so they don't catch up with us when we're old, and easier paths to legal immigration so we can bolster our population while continuing to collect taxes for more robust social programs. But that probably won't happen because the people in charge are too old and/or wealthy to ever be affected by this kind of thing.

  • You should probably amend your original comment to clarify that the fake part of the video was done by one of the people who volunteered to put the package on their porch, which Mark at least claims he had no knowledge of. Also worth pointing out that the known fake part of the video has been removed.

  • Gladly, just make sure they get the message to not ride my ass or try to zip around me on the right. Also if I'm still actively passing people, I'm not going to move over to a small open space on the right.

  • Everyone and their mother is playing Balatro, and for good reason. Super fun deck builder based on a normal playing card deck and poker hands. Great music and visuals, too.

Also, check out Inscryption. Truth be told, it's not really a true roguelike deckbuilder, rather it uses the genre as a storytelling medium. Still, really fun game with solid core gameplay and an engaging story. There's also DLC that lets you play more of the deckbuilder part indefinitely.

  • This is something I'm kind of scared of. I'm a cis woman, but I have facial hair for medical reasons. I keep it because it's what nature gave me and I kinda like how it looks, and people generally don't seem to care. I do fear, though, that I might be harassed for it someday.

I thought of this with the whole Planet Fitness fiasco. Many, many women shave their faces, but the "can always tell" crowd is so sure that they know men from women.

  • Whatever Happened to Baby Jane (1962). Timeless in is commentary on both child actors and being a damn good movie. Everything about the makeup makes the absolute most of the restricted grayscale palette. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a good thriller somewhat akin to Misery.

  • I tried it for a moment, made games stutter like hell, switched back. I know I need to go in and figure it out at some point, but it's hard to muster the energy when X, for the most part, works fine.

From what I've seen, it probably has to do with my Nvidia GPU.

  • In the original POST, OP says that it's killing the shrubs down there.

Suggestions included making a designated piss spot or moving the shrubs. Not, you know, just respecting your wife enough to not piss off the deck if asked.

  • I'm no expert, but here's a Wikipedia page about it:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honey_bee_life_cycle

And a more in-depth/easy to read article:

    https://askentomologists.com/2015/08/05/honeybee-genetics-how-do-they-work/

TL;DR: All fertilized eggs become female bees. Whether a fertilized egg becomes a worker or a queen is based completely on how much royal jelly they are fed by other workers as larvae. Drones (male bees) are born from unfertilized eggs and only contain one set of chromosomes.

Also, there are reptiles that change sex based on the temperature in which their eggs develop. Sex gets weird in the animal kingdom.
