Yeah I don't know if you have been following what's going on with ARM but they have been liquidating like crazy for the past year or more. With everyone investing and developing for Risc-v, including one of the largest ARM CPU manufacturers Qualcomm. That leaves Samsung and Apple in the lurch as they are both ARM dependent and were late to joining Risc-V. Just last week they both pushed $40m into ARM to keep it's value up.

I think this is something people like to hyperfocus on, these days the workflow is win key and a couple letters. I hear so many Linux teens go on about the start menu and I always struggle to try and recall what the star menu looks like

I don't think there is touchscreen support still, also not sure if they have a 2in1 option. As well, any non gaming laptop I've used in the past whothehellknowshowlong has had great battery life, even the cheap used convertible Chromebooks I install Windows 11 on have pretty great battery life. Definitely does more than a MacBook Air and for a lot less

I guess this is their final move of desperation. It will help inflate value for a while at least which will buy Samsung and Apple a bit of time. I still think they might be too late to the plate though. We'll see

Dang, if you told me that a Linux distro would be running on Risc-V before one was running on Apples ARM machines a year ago I would have seriously doubted you.

Yeah I think what the guy above is missing is the concept that companies schedule certain performance aspects on a timer so that they can release things in the most financially beneficial release cycle with only enough performance benefit to maximize their sales numbers. People seem to think that tech companies like these are releasing their very best product at coincidentally regular intervals with surprisingly similar performance increases

Everything you just said is just... So incorrect. I don't even know where to begin. With just saying it's difficult to use, like what the hell are you on? How disillusioned are you that you actually feel that is a true statement?? If anything is the only OS using logical conventions, just in the simple concept of it being the most well known and common is in the world for desktop use.

I don't even know how to start with the basic usability functions that you claim are missing but as a long time Linux user I'm very interested to see what examples you give because I'm sure everyone is interested.

Memory you aren't using is wasted memory. You should really look into understanding super fetch and the reason Windows "wastes" memory, reality is it's sitting files that have common usage in memory so it isn't constantly pulling them from drives. I mean just the fact that people are running Windows 11 smoothly on Chromebooks with 32gb of emmc 1.5ghz processors and 2gb of memory stands to make your entire statement pretty silly.

I've owned probably 45 computers or more in my life and I've never paid Microsoft for shit. Saying Windows is a scam is rather stupid, you can literally disable telemetry and it's still the best OS available right now regardless of your emotions.

Why is Apple spyware better?

They monetize using nitro. Discord servers use multiple different servers based on location to host the actual chat services. I'm not an expert on the inner workings but it's actually rather complex and fascinating. If you don't like using discords clients then maybe try an open source alternative discord client, if nothing else it will give you insight into the back end and help you better understand what's going on behind the scenes. Technically using alternative discord clients goes against their TOS but considering your feelings on discord I doubt that will matter to you.

Well that's kind of the thing, that's why Google announces they are ending those things. Most companies just end development silently and let those things differ l drift off without support or intention to solve issues which becomes incredibly telling for anyone who comes along and decides to integrate that software into their systems or daily life which later just becomes a massive problem down the line.

Announcing the end of something, and even coming up with a solution for it like domains switching to square space, GPM transferring user songs into YouTube music, and SketchUp selling to Trimble are low or even zero hassle solutions that result in longer term support for their users without throwing a "sorry it's all broken now, go fuck yourself" methodology
