  • Musk is just a Nazi. I can't believe there'e pushback on this at this point: he's outright just a neo-Nazi.

  • Sorry for the "spoilers", but is it plausible that after Denny gets shooed away from trying to blueball Johnny, he goes to Chris-R for the drugs instead?

  • maybe the universe

Imagine how self-important or ignorant you have to be to think this. No matter what, all life on Earth is going to die in 4.5 billion years when the Sun burns out. Once every second, a star somewhere goes supernova. Galaxies collide with each other and violently fling stars out into deep space. Black holes are constantly swallowing solar systems and deleting them from existence forever. All life that has ever existed will die and be forgotten. The entire universe was shrouded in hot and complete darkness for its first 350,000 years. Even these things (which are still miniscule on the scale of the observable universe) are on levels that are about as comparable to human activity as stubbing your toe is to the Holocaust.

Fuck it: "will ever happen to the universe" is heat death, and it's infinitely worse than anything humans could possibly do. We're just some hairless monkeys fighting over an infinitesimal rock harboring life and sending out some stray photons in a radius that's almost nothing compared to the size of the observable universe.

  • I use frame advance in VLC by using the 'E' key to seek a frame or just pause it whenever. Technically frame advance can hold on the same subtitle indefinitely, so I consider it in-bounds as long as 1) the subtitle pack I downloaded originally has it within that range (or, in the only case when the pack clearly missed a line, the range I create), and 2) the subtitle pack isn't very obviously flawed (like starting a voice line multiple seconds before it's actually said, continuing after another character is already speaking, or continuing after a very long silence; I've only encountered the first problem so far, and only once). Typically I try to get it as close to the voiceline as possible provided the shot isn't a blurry mess.

    TL;DR: the vibes(TM)

If you specifically are using some other subtitle pack whose timings are really messed up, you should be able to go into the human-readable file and change it.

  • Yes, I need to get good.

No, I will not get good.

  • Nah, it was definitely a coordinated effort by a squadron of supersonic birds with steel beaks. Couldn't be glorious oligarcho-fascist shithole.

  • Even prompting enough attention for this single investigation would make what Luigi did justified. Rot in piss, Brian.

I hope this helps overcomplicate things for you. We must all return to crocodile.

  • Do you know of any good articles exploring this power grid infrastructure disconnection?

    Edit:

  • It's also the case that when you're eating plant-based foods, unlike meat and dairy products, you're eating alpha- and beta-carotene and beta-cryptoxanthin, which your body can convert to Vitamin A and which don't cause hypervitaminosis.

So if you're just learning "Oh, shit, Vitamin A can poison me", don't let that hold you back from squash, yams, carrots etc.

  • About 1 in 20,000 eggs in the US contains Salmonella. With proper precautions (basic hygiene and cooking to a high temperature of a bit over 70°C), this risk isn't high. In fact, it's estimated that the risk eating cooked eggs is a few orders of magnitude lower than raw eggs – about 1 in 68 billion. However, when you absolutely know that you have eggs in a range that have an extremely high risk of Salmonella, this idea is just stupid and not at all worth even the relatively low risk, because the problem you likely run into isn't the safety of the cooked food – it's the safety of the handling of the food as you're preparing it. If your next grocery trip is a ways out, the eggs might spoil, but the UPC is what Costco cares about here. If you can't be bothered, then you should probably just toss them.

  • Thank you for the giant red circle. Had it not been for the giant red circle, I might not have noticed the large chunk of text at the bottom-center situated squarely in one of three large, visually distinct regions of the image.
