  • This isn't an auto-grat. The receipt explicitly says "This is not a tip or gratuity" and has a recommended tip line. This restaurant is either double-dipping to pay their employees less or scamming their customers.

  • It's almost certainly a Mac & Cheese variant. Stuff like this is why I heavily research restaurant prices before going out.

  • The copy, pasting, cutting, and moving features have improved significantly but I will admit it's still not perfect.

  • That generation of Floridians is going to be seriously messed up. This could be a real problem (or maybe Florida will be destroyed by the Climate Crisis before it manifests, who knows).

  • As a note, there are also instances available that are not on join-lemmy. For example, my instance lemmy.thesanewriter.com is open for sign ups but not yet on join-lemmy.

  • I fully agree, this is in large part what I meant by proportional representation. I don't mind the process of districting and making sure those districts are decently small, I just don't like that in large part that the democratic process in the United States is geared towards smaller states. I'm fully aware that the states at America's founding wouldn't go for abolishing the Senate or the electoral college, but things have changed and it's time for the government to change too.

  • I also don't mind having the choice of whether or not to use a case, but it might be nice if it were an included accessory.

  • To be fair, Virginia illegally seceded from the Union. Illegally seceding from an illegal secession makes you a patriot I think.

  • You know what, I'm down. I think life in Mega Virginia will probably be better than life in Indiana now. Can we also do Long Massachusetts?

  • How's progress on OAuth2? I know previously you (understandably) said it wasn't a priority this early, but is it on the greater roadmap?

  • That's called OAuth2, it's a security feature. By logging into the official UI and that UI returning a login token, potentially malicious mobile apps are prevented from stealing your login credentials. For Lemmy the majority if not all of the current mobile clients are safe, but if a malicious one sprouts up it could use native login to steal your credentials and store them on a malicious server.

  • I view it as a benefit, and I'm willing to make concessions on salary for additional or better benefits. Arguably you could have both, but I think unionization is required for that and I'm in a low unionization industry.

  • Sync's a really smooth experience, I'm enjoying it. Hopefully moderator tools will be back soon, that's one of the biggest weaknesses of the Lemmy app space right now.

  • Do they have any new air exhibits?

  • Indeed. As long as you have a DNS name available it's pretty easy to roll an instance, lemmy-ansible will do the work for you.

  • That's good to hear, that shows the Sync dev was most likely being honest when he said buying the paid version of the app would completely disable the ad library.

  • I agree, humor is a valid coping mechanism. It's not like a serious conversation on Lemmy is going to solve world hunger, your joke was fine in my opinion.

  • I suppose flying a drone in a video game isn't that much different than flying one in real life, so this makes sense.

  • This is great news. Hopefully their success will inspire more studios to hold onto the genre.
