  • Regenerative braking happens through the brake pedal on my Ford PHEV. I prefer it, because it drives the same way every other car does but still allows you to stop with 100% regenerative braking as long as you don’t press too hard on the pedal.

  • My Ford PHEV does regenerative braking through the brake pedal. The brake pads only engage if you press hard enough that the braking demand is higher than the slowing caused by regenerative braking. It will show you how well you’re doing with a gauge to show how much of your regen-braking force you’re using, and if it never engages the brake pads until you’re already stopped (for the brake hold function) it tells you 100% of the braking energy went into the battery. Pretty cool.

  • Some have a difficult time understanding when they are being made a fool of.

No offense, but I feel like this sort of also applies to you here, too.

  • But ultimately I'm mostly just glad they kept him from opening the plane. That's the obvious first priority there. Damn.

It’s physically impossible to open a door on an airplane during most stages of the flight. The door first needs to move inward before opening, and the pressure differential is absurd. The handle would break long before you’d open the door. The only time it’s really possible is near the ground as you’re coming in to land or taking off (which did happen recently).

  • As I understand it, you can pretty easily fuck up when distilling and leave the methanol in if you don’t know what you’re doing. The first bit of stuff that boils off and collects, the foreshots, contains awful stuff like methanol and acetone. If you don’t remove this you’ll have methanol in your moonshine (and also it will taste awful).

This probably wasn’t done maliciously, would be my guess, but rather someone was learning how to use a still and seriously messed up.

Edit: I may be wrong, it sounds like you’d have to drink a lot of tainted moonshine to die. So maybe this was malicious. Or someone accidentally served foreshots.

  • And then there’s people who got hooked on methamphetamines because they were a cheap but effective way to stay up all night and study for an exam when they were a teenager

    *amphetamines.

I don’t think Desoxyn, the prescription version of methamphetamine, is particularly popular.

But Adderall is just straight up amphetamine.

(Not to be the umm ackchyually guy.)

For what it’s worth, Adderall is unlikely to lead to addiction when used as prescribed by people who actually need it. So don’t worry if you’re an ADHD patient who takes it.

  • As much as I agree with the sentiment, this strikes me as similar to when MAGAts would post pictures of empty store shelves during COVID and would say it’s what Biden’s America would look like. We all laughed because they were literally pictures of Trump’s America.

I understand that Trump is going to gut federal agencies but…this is happening right now. Under Biden’s watch.

  • Pronounced kæro (K air o)

Comically, in Latin the æ would be pronounced with a sound like “ai” in “aisle,” so kæro would be pretty much the same as how you would expect to say Cairo.

(Fun fact, in Latin “Caesar” is pronounced very similarly to “Kaiser,” and is where the word “Kaiser” comes from.)
