  • I assume the NFL is/was a 501c6 tax exempt organization since it calls out football leagues specifically.

You'd be looking for 501c3 organizations which does include churches and other dubious religious affiliated organizations but not all federal non-profits.

  • During the Communist revolution the republic government was losing pretty badly and fell back to the very defensible island. They've been there ever since with their official name: the Republic of China. So there's some civil war tension there and a lot of claims of who's the rightful ruler of China.

  • Well no, it's the same parts. It's literally called the matter stream. The exact same parts are taken apart, moved to a new location, and reassembled.

  • If you arm gets cut off, you and your arm go together to the hospital, and they reattach it, are you a different person? If you die in the ambulance and they revive you, are you a different person?

  • If you've ever followed the C++ committee discussions you'll see they put a lot of time and effort into considering legacy code when introducing language changes. For better or worse existing languages are on a trajectory set from their inception that can't always be easily redirected. New languages are free of this baggage and can wildly experiment.

  • The default mobile web view literally has sidebar at the top of the page when viewing a community. If your app is missing a basic feature you don't get to complain and be a dick about it.

  • Finally saw Dazed and Confused. Other than a couple pretty extreme bullying/abuse scenes it's a really cozy slice of life.

  • Energy transfer is proportional to the difference in temperature between the 2 things (delta T), their contact surface area (in this case the length of the radiator and the size of the fins), and time. If you want a room to change temperature quickly and with radiators that don't take up an entire wall then you need the water temperature to be very different from the room temperature.

  • Hot water radiators are designed to work with temperature deltas in the 110 degree F range (target 70 room temp, 180 water temp). In the summer your temperature deltas are much tighter, you can only get to at best 32 F before the water freezes and with a target of 70 that's only 38 degrees of temperature delta trying to cool the room. They simply won't work efficiently enough for it to be worth it, not to mention being on the floor is very poor positioning for summer.

  • Self hosting vaultwarden enables TOTP and other organizational features that standard bitwarden charges for.

  • I would support this if there was evidence that manufacturers were knowingly (or purposefully not doing due diligence) selling to distributors who weren't following the rules or were somehow pressuring distributors to bend the rules to sell more (conspiracy). Otherwise its really on the distributors to be doing background checks, adhering to waiting periods, and using proper discretion. If we want less guns around then there need to be legal limits on sales and ownership, and those limits need to be enforced.

  • There are a couple of online retailers that specialize in it. That's what we ended up doing for my wife's engagement ring and wedding band. It noticeably sparkles in direct sun, she gets comments on it pretty often.

  • Not that I've found, that's the version I listened to.

  • I really like audio books for long drives. I've gotten through a ton of classics that I never would have sat down and read. A great narration can make a book come alive, but even a mediocre one is fine to experience the story.

  • There's no need to run an LLM on the same system it was trained on. Once the model is built it contains all the information already. If you want a model to live on long term you would just release the file(s) publicly, like hugging face does with theirs, then anyone could use it or host an interface for it.

    Lol

  • Unless they start offering on-prem or there are some very high profile server hacks I don't see that being possible. Unlike media and client software they don't need to provide the core functionality to end users, just the output.
