  • They can, when they limit CO2 emissions as much as possible and compensatw for the remaining emissions by planting trees and other tricks.

Also, 'being carbon neutral' can mean several things:

    • ensure the company doesn't produce CO2 (net)
    • ensure the company and the commute of the employees doesn't produce CO2 (net)
    • ... plus suppliers
    • ... plus transport of the goods produced
    • ...

And so on,... it all is just how you define it.

My house is the greenest in the neighbourhood and probably in the country. That it has nothing to do with being eco friendly but more with the paint on it is just a minor detail. ;)

  • The window manager is just to fit a load of xterms on the desktop. (12 on my 1st desktop)

  • I'm not sure about the latter. I get drowsy when drunk and fall asleep. Others have a 'bad drunk' and get violent.

  • Nop, not here. (BTW that was in '89)

However when opening emacs in '94 I opened an xterm to kill it (on IRIX).

  • Keep using Linux, for the 30th year. Started in '94 with Slackware 1.2, RedHat 1/1.1 in '95 and switched to Debian at the end of '95 (0.93 R5 or R6). I was running OS/2 for my BBS in that time, with a link to my Linux system with internet since august '95. I had a terminal with null-modem cable next to my bed for IRC, 10 Mbit connection at my room. (campus of UTwente in the Netherlands)

Was fun messing about with that stuff.

  • According to Wikipedia it's based on google authenticator. Is it known how much google code is still in there?

  • I was raised catholic. When the class at school had their confirmation, I refused as religion felt more like a fairytale then something to really believe in. When I saw they got gifts, I was disappointed and wanted to confirm when my sister was doing her's (to get gifts as well, wrong reason).

For that confimation I had to do bible study, during which I learned what's in the bible. As I invested all that time, I went trough with it for the gifts, but I learned my 1st impression was right. To me it's nothing more then a fairytale. That confirmation was my last volentary visit to a church to attend service. (Played tourist a few times, the buildings are still nice)

Till today, I still prefer to know, not to believe anything that is being told.

  • I have notifications active, but notification sound default to none. For apps I want a sound reminder (calendar and pm in chat apps), I set another sound.

  • Everybody knows the earth is round... like a pancake (or pizza).

But the biggest question remains, whe the turtle reaches it's destination, what will it do there. (And is it male or female)

  • Humans totally ignore that they are part of nature. Most think that reduced biodiversity won't include them.

  • I have a small sim-only, 200 min/sms and 3000MB data a month. 2000 from the plan, 1000 because my wife has the same plan with the same provider. Now I'l limited to home I use about 20-30MB, my wife about the same. The plan is €7.50 a month. It's the cheapest option with data here in the Netherlands.

  • I have the lowest possible plan, 3000 MB. Of this I on average use 150-200 when I need to or can be at the office. Now, a medical issue prevents me from commuting, so data usage is abour 20-30 MB. I don't use to much data, as at home and at work I can use wifi. When visiting I don't use data, as I'm visiting.

  • I kinda know the feeling. My dad died in '07 when I was 34, my mother in '20 and her last brother died this year. My sisters and I are now the oldest generation (together with nices and nephews on that side) My yongest sister just turned 42.

I still refuse to admit I'm adult, just old. (At least that's what my body tells me from time to time, "you're not 20 anymore, I'm not putting up with those shenanigans")

  • Most chat people live in the UGT timezone. ;) It's easier to say morning when joining a chat and evening when you leave then try to figure out the timezone of everybody. That was on IRC.

Most still use it in other chats, when joining the 1st time that day (usually after a night of sleep), you greet.

  • With the filters I use, it removes the 'woody' aftertaste from the coffee. It worked on an old philipa as well as with the moccamaster I now use on workdays.

  • Custom Street Racing 2. A car hoarding game with some drag racing thrown in. It's an old serie of games I found in 2016 when looking for a car game with classics (I cound CSR Classics). This version is the combination of CSR and CSR Classics, kinda. (not enough classics for my taste)

  • Having the same sence of humor proved crucial for me, next to loving pets. I dated someone once and when she asked why I asked her I told her I liked older women. She was 3 days older. (And not amused)

I felt totally comfortable with a girl I met at a forum meeting we started seeing each other more. She had pets and the same sence of humor. She's my wife for 14y now, we have loads of pets. On my birthday I get gifted a younger wife, on her birthday she's rescued from an old man. She's 6 months younger.

  • I love custom roms and even developed for CyanogenMod and LineageOS. However, that was for Samsung, Nokia and Motorola. Those roms have loads of bloatware. The Pixel has no or little bloatware.

When going without Google, custom rom and f-droid is the way to go. With gapps, the advantage will be that you get longer updates, as custom roms usually get more updates. That is, as long as somebody is interested in the device and developing for it.

Also, when rooting, the official roms usually refuse to update, a problem that doesn't exist with custom roms.

  • Same. Made the mistake to buy a Samsung A13 assuming itnhas a rom. Alas, just the 5G, I have the 4G. Bootloader is already unlocked though.
