Cognitive dissonance is an impossible nut to crack for anyone but the person experiencing it. Just say your piece with no expectations; at least you will know you are honest, and you never know - even a tiny crack can shatter the bubble. Probably won't.

Good call on The Stanley Parable; it does have a similar fun, nonsensical style like the old Lucas games. Disco was very interesting and I enjoy the Tell Tale games, but those don't really scratch the same itch. The others I'm ignorant about.

At any rate, those old gems still feel like the pinnacle of the genre to me.

I sympathize with your sentiment, and I wish they would live and let live... but they won't. My reason for saying it's a bad take is that they give zero f's about your good faith principles; if we want a brighter future, rolling over and legitimizing these fools is not the way to go about it.

My NC experiences are (thankfully) limited to the bluer parts, so my view is admittedly skewed. Probably tipped a little too far into hyperbole with the "solid" comment.
