Its similar to Tablets. Nobody sees a fucking point in a redundant device until people see it.

Many people still dont have tablets but it is nowhere an unneeded device. It is successful.

This VR/AR glass is indeed the most advanced and well designed glass, miles ahead of what is available. Now it depends on how well it is executed bc some feature are actually useful and intriguing.

Tablets have been around longer than Ipads but they werent nearly as well designed and advanced as when Ipad was announced

It is because of capitalism. Capitalism includes price competition, necessity to update farming tools and adopting technology in timely manner for every farmer, reducing worker numbers by replacement with farming tools, free labour movement, meaning less people being stuck being farmers. Tech development competition and tool production is its own capitalistic dynamic too.

Other forms aren't necessarily centuries behind in effectiveness but they would require very microscopic management and preplanning, hopefully competent leaders and selfless participants.

Agriculture is in most societies already heavily regulated and intervened by governments and politicians bc of its importance. So even in capitalistic nations, agriculture is never pure capitalistic

Facebook and Google was always about friends family and local before any random and stranger interaction becomes relevant.

Reddit and Lemmy is all about strangers. Oftentimes you dont even want people to know you or care about that. So userbase is way easier to create without feeling as if it was too small.

It is likely you are confused by the hen and egg problem of why your friend said Beijing when reading Peking. He simply skipped and ignored what was written bc he knew it was the equivalent of his own languages main capital city so he just used mandarin word for it.

It is supposed to be pronounced with soft B. Hard P is from Peking which is cantonese. The rest of the world adopted Peking first before Beijing bc cantonese was the language of most chinese emigrants decades and century ago

Thats bc of cantonese not bc english randomly made mandarin sound like cantonese.

Cantonese and mandarin are so different in pronunciation and word usage you know when an english word is made to resemble a cantonese or a mandarin word.

Peking is so obviously not mandarin its not even close. Pe was never pronounced Bei. People just knew Peking was supposed to be Beijing in mandarin so some mandarin people skipped the middle man and just used their own language word despite something else being written on the paper
