I know in my heart of hearts that if Xi Jinping tried to use a technicality like this to build a Chinese military base in Mexico or smth that you would be calling him a racial slur so offensive that the last person to utter it was a British imperial explorer who wore a pith helmet and died in 1921.

It was commonplace among leftists to oppose US military hegemony, NATO, and Raytheon pre-2022, even for relatively lib leaning spaces. This position became basically unacceptable if not bannable in so many left leaning spaces within a matter of months, which should scare you a lot more than the existence of one community where the sentiment has remained the same.

Holy shit is this a bit? Do people on here really still believe in a neutral or unbiased press? Shouldn't virtually every event from the Iraq war onward have already disillusioned you of that?

The problem though is that these issues are self-perpetuating. Both the current Russian and post-2014 Ukraine governments are the products of US interference. If we were truly spreading Democracy, then they would be capable of mediating these conflicts peacefully. Since Capital dictates the terms of our international intervention, it puts its own interests first, and it's very interested in selling weapons. I just can't accept the premise that selling more weapons will lead to any sort of long-lasting peace or democracy in the region.

Ukraine has used internationally banned cluster munitions in the donbass since 2014. A six year old playing in a field and dying to unexploded ordnance, whether that child is a Russian or Ukrainian speaker, is a horrific tragedy. These bombs are a form of terrorism sponsored by the post-coup Ukrainian state, and the nazi paramilitaries active in the area were and are state-sponsored terrorists.

Reddit is a disinfo network staffed and mediated by intelligence and defense consultants. The accusation that anyone who disagrees with the narrow set of acceptable ideology allowed on reddit is a paid shill is an intended side effect of routine exposure to it.

That's fine but why are they banning socialist parties, integrating fascist paramilitaries into the army, and privatizing land? That all seems a little familiar.

Assuming good faith, the liberal notion that the UNSC in this case is acting out of a neutral concern about nuclear weapons is completely contradicted by the reality that similar restrictions aren't placed on Israel.

Israel has an illegal arsenal of nuclear arms and a stated policy of massive retaliation. Its nuclear arms are also in violation of the NPT which is cited in your UN source repeatedly. It is also an American proxy state, established through terrorism and expanded through racial violence and settler colonialism. Its nuclear arsenal exists to safeguard the continued expansion of this racial violence, genocide and apartheid.

The US has historically used intimidation and coercion to manipulate the UNSC against its geopolitical enemies, and this is no exception. The US waged a genocidal war against the DPRK during the 1950s, which is still technically ongoing. The war effort not only involved massive bombings of civilian infrastructure, but also assistance to the RoK government, staffed by myriad Japanese collaborators, in murdering anyone suspected of sympathy with the DPRK.

Pleass ask yourself why the DPRK is subject to a legally binding UNSC resolution, while Israel gets a gentle suggestion from the UNGA to pwetty pwease disarm for the exact same crime, though with drastically different motives.
