  • For a huge amount of people, the teenage years are the years with the most responsibility and the least freedom. You don't control your health care, your income, your time, or your opportunities in the same way that adults can. Your needs can be neglected and there's nothing you can do as a teenager.

  • New electric and plug-in hybrids are still better than new gas cars, and those are easier sells than high-speed rail unfortunately. People still want their Ford F150s.

We have not made any real progress on passenger rail until Biden came into office with the exceptions of California and Florida. Unless you can link a good source, I don't buy that Musk singlehandedly delayed nationwide high-speed rail projects.

  • I don't think the Musk hate is completely justified. Yes, he has awful takes, and yes, some of his projects are stinkers. However, you can't deny that his projects have done a net good for humanity. He made electric vehicles commercially viable and got legacy car manufacturers to make their own, made huge progress in decreasing the cost of space launches, and is giving underserved areas high-speed internet. Each of those is difficult to do on their own, and his companies have done them all simultaneously.

  • People can search the name or SemVer and get the other name. It's not hard, not time-consuming, and it's way more fun. I genuinely miss when Android had dessert-themed names because it made the updates that much more exciting

  • I'm gonna say no, but not for the same reasons as other commenters.

Android isn't as safe as iOS in that you're way more likely to get an app that harvests your data on the Play Store. That being said, there's almost no chance of you getting a device-breaking bug or app on Android vs. on iOS.

Now, if you're worried about data collection, whether you have an antivirus is the least of your concerns. You need to evaluate every single service that you currently use or pay for and see how they use your data. Google and Meta harvest all of it. Your telecom provider harvests a ton of it. The big retail chains you shop at, your banks, your credit/debit card payment processor, your ISP, etc. all collect data that they then sell to data brokers. Any data that is sent to data brokers can be bought by basically anyone who wants it. Even if all of your data is nuked from these brokers, data breaches at various companies or government agencies can and do happen. Even if those breaches never happen, some of your info is kept in the public record and can't be erased.

So, if you want to do anything to protect yourself, don't get an antivirus. Instead, just try to scrub your personal info off the internet the best you can.

  • My guess is that R&D as well as third-party Steam keys eat into their margins.

It could be more sustainable with this higher fee as well. Valve supports old games for a long time whereas console manufacturers pull the plug 10 years later. You could argue that Microsoft takes only 12%, but Microsoft has the luxury of being able to exit the PC games market at any time, or they can take a loss on it indefinitely. Valve needs to survive off its PC store because it's the only thing they really have

  • Dude, I'm saying the insane polarization and treating people's opinions as binary is what's causing gridlock on the federal level and dumb laws on the state level. I am calling Texas' "constitutional carry" law dumb and the reason for the 2 or 3 major shootings that we've had.

It's also great how you chose to not at least skim through my argument and instead decided to cherry-pick a sentence or 2 to respond to out of context. You didn't read the part where I made a distinction between legal and responsible ownership. You illustrated my last point perfectly because you're so completely blinded by hatred and ignorance of people you're not even willing to learn about.

P.S. I've never owned a gun and probably never will, so it's really funny to see you attack me for that.

  • (Purely for the sake of argument)

You would not be double flushing for every number 2. Assuming a clean bowl at the start:

1111112 would be 3 flushes for 7 sessions 1212121 would be 6 flushes for 7 sessions 2222222 would be 7 flushes for 7 sessions 1121121 would be 4 flushes for 7 sessions

You can group any section of 1s between 2s into groups of 3 with up to 1 group with less than 3 1s. Each group would be converted to a 2. Then, you would do a flush after each 2.

As a side note, please don't do this. It's genuinely disgusting to go to someone else's urine scented bathroom

  • IMO it's just unfinished and will probably shine with time. I got CS1 and played it for 2 years, then stopped in 2019 after reaching about 160 hours. It took me less than 2 months to reach 100 hours in CS2, and it's so much more fun.
