Ads on YouTube

  • to me I still use the paid version because, for me it's not that expensive on the family plan, and I do want the content creators to get paid. I do hate the monopoly etc... but as far as I can tell it's one that can't really be broken. Far as I can see no other site can actually arrange a system in which creators get paid any substantial amount.

also do have to note the inevitable put up or shut up part of nature. There's basically only 2 options of systems when it comes to the internet, either we deal with ads or we pay for services. Until a magical extra option appears I'm OK with paying to avoid ads.

  • Honestly I think we need to do more blame to the general popular media. AKA while the actual real science has moved so much further forward. Most people will complain and hate it if their dinosaur renditions don't match what has been set in stone in their minds by Jurrasic Park. Hence feathers are in the minority of renditions of dinosaurs for the mainstream public.

The scientific renditions are pretty accurate. The current movies, books, toys, cartoons, etc... on the other hand are all stuck on a modified for creative and practical reproduction variant of the version that science had in the 80s.

  • I mean... has there ever been a movie about an alien that goes through proper migration paperwork.

Course I'm up for the next predator movie having that intro. "These species specifically only have interest in earth because they like to hunt humans and rip their spines out.

Yeah true, but he bought a gold immigration card for a million dollars so. Welcome to america!

  • It's the double edged sword... bottom line, he gets us to protest, he'll use it to declare martial law to get what he wants.

If we dont protest, he'll use our inaction as approval and continue pushing and throwing the law out the window so it doesn't effect him and his power grows more anyway.

There is no easy path to victory, his side has contingencies for most anything we can do... all we can do is do it stronger than they anticipate.

  • I don't see how anyone can blame you for this oppinion, and I'll happily say I agree 100%. It's basically known for a fact that anywhere sex work is unregulated, unmonitored etc... are almost universally used by traffickers, underage participants etc... and if we are talking video hosting, then revenge porn etc... Gotta fully agree, this is the category I want the site operators across the board to have the government breathing down their neck saying "You better damn well do everything humanly possible to prove this video was made with uncoerced consent of someone old enough to make that choice".

  • I really wonder what the hell unconditional surrender means in this case.

STOP MAKING NUKES... that all of our spies are telling us you aren't actually making, so they must be next to the nukes from Iraq's WMD's.

Surrender means they have to stop doing something... and best I can see iraq's just been sitting there minding their own damn business, when isreal attacked them. It's like the god damn "STOP RESISTING!!!".

  • lol I did that for a while when I was broke... for quite some time I rigged up my linksys router with wrt, set it up as a repeater for my neighbors wifi after cracking it.

Of course the real irony was after cracking it, I realized I could have cracked it much easier with a phone book (after realizing my local ISP, just used the persons phone number as the WEP key)

  • Well the rich people part is kind of silly.

In the past it was only rich people who had celphones, now it's everybody. Before that it was only rich people who had computers at all.

Of course with cameras, I do have to note the bigger irony to me. IE I remember it largely being the tin foil hat nerds that were terrified of the government showing up at their door, watching for black hellicopters.

Now of course, the typical home buyer has cameras with internet access that gleefully share everything to the government, while the tinfoil hats either go way out of their way to make sure to get cameras that don't go to the internet (or block them from doing so), or just avoid them altogether.

  • also agree, a trump equivelant would have executed not sure the second the IQ test came in.

Honestly the most unbelievable part of that movie is, the president seems to be one of the smartest people born in that generation. Yeah he seems dumb by our standards, but you put him next to the lawyers and everyone else in that society... he actually seems pretty brilliant.

  • I'd say it partly depends on where you live.. or where you plan to live. Bottom line is in the US anywhere that isn't a big city. Being able to drive is basically going to be a pre-requisite to having a job.

  • Want to add in a potential extra as well... even if you DO find a service good and worth continuing to use, It's a good idea to try and cancel it anyway. Why, because a lot have special automations to attempt to retain you by offering you deals.

"are you sure you want to leave, what if we gave you 3 months at half off?".

  • More dumb to me is, just simply the concept of nations changing drastically over time. It was the communist party of russia that fought along side us in WW2, it was the facist states in germany and japan that we fought against.

Obviously it's not the land mass and the name that people have problems with, it's the actions, people don't like the authoriterian regime that's attempting to take over the nations around it. People like the nations that show no signs of attacking other nations and look for mutually beneficial agreements.

This is so much like the confusion when he thought the german leader would think of D-Day as a bad day.

  • Well yeah but I believe the idea is in short the uncertainty, why it's saying "in 10 years". Think of it now as you have a kid graduating high school this year, and asks you what to major in in college that's likely to make enough to pay off those killer loans it's going to take.

  • Good fucking grief... Have they not watched trumps negotiations and the patterns

    1. Trump makes impossible unreasonable demand.
    2. Other nation gives half as a compromise
    3. Trump takes the half, then attempts to take the rest by force.

Denmark now needs to be ready to get bombed, by fucking planes launched from their own god damn airbases.

  • Was going to start with thinking that, but then watched the video. I'm hearing far more "My friend runs a land scaping business, and he lost 10 or so, he's going out of business". Then comments on how they don't live in a big city and they don't know how they are going to find people to hire. Finally in the last 15 seconds he tears up and says he got to know them as friends and he hates seeing what it did to them and their families.

So yeah... feels like "I won't make money", "I'll lose my business", and "oh yeah they were good people who I hate to see their lives ruined".
