Basically the way it usually works is.

Chinese knock off mass factory, makes stores and has the items.

They find a guy in America and say "Hey can you list our items on ebay, when you sell them, we'll take $20, you can probably sell them for $50.

Guy lists item for $50, someone buys it, he then just e-mails the dropshipper and asks them to send it straight to the buyer. Sometimes he will have to give ebay a fake tracking number (because ebay doesn't approve the practice).

Point is the drop shipper is just there to conceal the actual source of the product. That's generally because they are sketchy in some other way.

A co-worker of mine at one point got into a drop shipping scam. She was selling golf clubs that way (she was selling them about 80% of expected retail, place she was buying from was charging her about 25% of retail. She didn't know (but probably should have guessed) that the clubs she was selling were counterfeit, and she about had a heart attack when her 2nd customer called her out on it (she refunded him and took the loss).

well worth noting if you do have it set to say syncronize (mine goes to nextcloud but the app has options for file system, dropbox, onedrive, webdav). The syncronized version will be all plain text .md files in markdown language. simple enough to point something else to that directory.

Especially in response to "I'm calling 911". You are texting your daughter. You clearly are in a safe area, your daughter is clearly hiding for her life hoping not to draw attention. propor response would be "let me call, be quiet"

It's also just markdown text files, saved locally (but syncronizable to cloud/webdav etc...). So in short, yeah you can move things back and forth between joplin and obsidian, or one of many many markdown editors.

I mean it sounds to me more like they are admitting they were intentionally stupidly inefficient originally. IE the one they are comparing it to has 94% more detergent, but only does 14 more loads. (74 vs 60).

I mean that's mainly it... it's amazing at clearing adds off of news articles general viewing pages like blogs etc... but yes as you said, it's not particularly great for things like youtube/spotify etc... things that deliver the ads through the same source as the main content.

Huge variations. I'd say probably the technologically literate percentages of people is about the same... but tech has allowed the technologically illiterate the ability to use the internet.

That's the point... He brought on Charlie Kirk, and rather than, arguing with him... or trying to show his audience why what Kirk has to say shouldn't have a place in the discourse. He basically was looking for something he can agree with and highlighting the good.

Be it eating, taking shelter from the elements, drinking water. Why are microbes any different than say... mountain lions... If a fricking mountain lion threatens your kids, is the response going to be "well guns are man made, god put those mountain lions there for a reason". or are you going to get out there, and hunt that thing.

I do worry a little about future antitrust actions, because while I generally like Valve as they are, Gabe won’t be around forever. They have a giant influence in the market, and they don’t even have to try (they were one of the first, so it makes sense they’d have the most market share); it could be that the company I generally like starts actively being anticompetitive or starts donating to Nazis or something.

Agreed, if there's one potential weak point... it's basically that valve is the 15 years ago google of gaming right now. Great support for open source and linux... mostly good policies (minus maybe their micro transaction and lack of cracking down on how say the CSGO skins feed an underage gambling industry).

But yeah, effectively we still have the worse of positions that, one bad management choice, and we could all lose access to all the games we've purchased from them over the last decade or 2.

Amen to that. I mean right now there's also more reason than ever to convince people to leave reddit. (IE people being banned, not just for mentioning luigi, but upvoting comments mentioning luigi).

Unfortunately, that's the part that makes me unable to just laugh and say "have at it". I can let my sympathies wane for those old enough to vote.

IMO the problem is, they falsely assume everyone wants what the republicans are selling, and their biggest flaw is that they are pollarizing. That's why they always start introducing as much republican lite things into their policies.

They don't understand, that by doing that, they are effectively telling the american people that the republicans are right. IE say the republican party on immigration etc... is lock em up in the fastest way, forget about humanity and ship them out as fast as possible, fuck due process these people are dangerous and destroying everything.

Democrats: Well I can back you on making sure we get them out as soon as we can, but I think we can do it without human rights violations.

They don't realize... that effectively to the outside observer going off of both of those policies they are hearing "both parties agree these people are dangerous and ruining everything, one wants to get rid of them as fast as possible, the other wants to prioritize us not hurting them over preventing them from harming us".

I mean if you don't want others to get to it.

Or if say you want to participate on 2 seperate servers that don't federate eachother.

But in general a small hobby lemmy instance, can join all the communities on the large general purpose one. Hence, you are talking from a server I'm not familiar with, and we're talking in a discussion on the largest most general purpose instance.

Only reason I can think of is if you are really worried of people confusing you for say a Deranged_Kermit@lemmy.world, or something.
