  • Large corporations are, indeed, soulless and thankless. No amount of their pandering to the masses with charity campaigns and outreach programs ever end without them making money.

Knowing this, I prefer to take everything at face value. If I start concerning myself with the ulterior motives of these people that don't believe in class equality, I will very quickly want to put a lightbulb in my mouth.

For those familiar, Destiny 2 (a video game by Bungie, the originators of the Halo franchise) has come under scrutiny lately due to mass layoffs, and the following PR nightmare it has turned into. With every day that passes, we learn more thanks to the diligent work of journalists doing their job.

I appreciate knowing to help me make informed decisions about who I fiscally support, but I will spend my money on entertainment based on the value it gives me. Not the morals I'm told I should have by people bickering on the internet, and content creators that use these situations as clickbait.

And that all goes for any corp, I'm just largely invested in this one example. I am aware that Nestle is garbage ass company, but due to me not existing in their world view, I will buy a KitKat when I want one, thanks.

  • Boost. I used the old reddit version forever and it was far and away my favorite.

  • Upper management in the hot seat, as usual. What did he do this time?

  • Yo I think he's meme-targeting me.

  • Dude.. he travels

It was my Discord bio for like 3 years lmao. I have switched to "the fooot"-based humor now.

  • This was my favorite meme for so damn long, until I saw this one on lemmy recently.

  • Thank God I won't be homeless for Christmas, that gets to wait until January now. :)

Just kidding, I'm still renting because I can't afford to save for a down-payment. :)))

  • Witcher 3. Spoilers here, btw.

I will never forget riding my horse up to The Baron's residence after losing his child and his wife and seeing him hanging from the tree. They do such a good job making his character barely tolerable at first, then make him slowly grow on you after you learn he's just like you. Scared, confused, and lost. He lashes out because he's trying to protect his family, but the weight of losing it is the end is too much for him.

Truly, what a masterclass in narrative design, and it's only a sliver of what that game has to offer.

  • I make it a point to forget scanning half of my shit there. It's less about self-checkout (I quite honestly don't mind it all that much), and more about the insane cost of living now.

I refuse to spend $30 on milk, eggs, cheese, bread, and butter.

  • I ended up needing to take the latter of the 2 options, and I wouldn't wish that torture on my worst enemies.

Straight out of HS I went to Uni, and it always felt like I wasn't doing it for myself. 2.5 years and $20k later I left hastily, and went to college after a few months off. I didn't get it right in the first year, but I went into game dev after that and barely squeaked by. Even with it being a very strong interest of mine, it was very difficult to drag myself through it. I met some incredible friends along the way that helped keep me focused enough, but it was hard.

Fast forward 3 years, and here I am now, diagnosed with mixed ADHD, medicated, with more focus than I've ever had. Its still not great... I have 27 years of bad habits to break, but it's getting better.

One of the biggest things I can offer as advice is know your enemy. ADHD is tricky to deal with, but not impossible. If you have the option to make itbeasier to manage, I'd try to find a way and make it happen. I can't speak to the autism part, but the ADHD is something that you can manage. It just takes some time.

  • Lmao. I mean, yeah. I dunno about everyone else here, but I'd much rather see that money be spent in a productive "society-first" manner instead of literally just bleeding into nothing.

Nothing money does nothbut sit there anyways, so spend it to improve quality of life or give it all back and let us do it.

    Fuck.

  • This. And the same goes for work in general. Doing work only has value because we attached money to it. People saying that scanning your own 10 items at the grocery store is labor and you should be paid accordingly... I'll always respect peoples' opinions and values, but something has to give if we feel as a society that that is worth compensation.

That is to say, the free labor for the corporations is not lost on me, I'm just thinking bigger picture. The budding socio-anarchist in me wants to burn the system to the ground and watch what rebuilds.

We were doomed from the start, damn those dank river valleys for establishing commerce and social hierarchy!

  • That was me too! I guessed I had around 2k hours in RL overall, but Destiny 2 has recently just eclipsed 2k hours on just PC. Probably have 2500 in that game total now.

  • I came to the comments to make this joke lmao. I never played super consistently, so it always threw me for a bit of a loop.

  • Actually, to Meta's credit here, they do transparently say this when you make an account.

You can send follow requests to all of your Insta friends, and once they activate a Threads profile, they will see any follow requests they may have gotten.
