  • I guess they have to ease into larger sizes, just like humans do. 🙃

  • The US has military installations in 55 countries, I'm afraid that very soon, they'll turn on the people they promised to "protect." Total global shakedown. Just like the American oligarchy will have no qualms about further dismantling public infrastructure and driving wages and living conditions of their own populace down into bare survival mode if it means they can become trillionaires. Plus, poor and desperate people make good soldiers.

  • The US will be spending the next several decades building their reputation back up antagonizing the rest of the world hard for even the tiniest short-term gains of its ruling class, kowtowing only to China.

  • Konqueror, IIRC, will show you "virtual" MP3s & FLACs, complete with file sizes and all, when you put in an audio CD. You can copy these files to your hard disk. They are created on the fly, though.

  • I hate Elvis
No such thing as bad publicity, I guess. I mean, what are they going to do, shoot him?

  • In 2019, Giorgio Agamben gave a week of lectures in Berlin. In the middle of it, he suddenly paused and said: "I hope that everyone in this room realizes that all political action has become impossible." He meant that political action is no longer possible because we are governed by economic powers.

  • That's how we'll end up in the Gattaca timeline.

  • These days, the "suggested searches" are ads in the shape of searches of companies or products, many of which nobody ever heard of. Gone are the days of the genuine "other people searched for this." It was only a matter of time, I guess.

  • They will pay you for 30 minutes. The workload will be orders of magnitude more than that.

  • Greek, Latin, French were once important languages, yet no-one ever called them easy. English seems easy to you because you're used to it. The grammar, especially the tenses, are extraordinarily hard to get right and I would comment a lot more if I knew which fucking tense to use when.
To illustrate: English grammar links to "English verbs," a huge Wikipedia article on its own, which then branches further out to stuff like "Simple past" with their own Wikipedia pages. You - you realize other languages don't have something similar, not because they are necessarily less spoken, but because they don't need it?

  • More from German:
"Das ist mir X" = "It is X to me,"
where X = banane, brot, bumbel, bums, egal, gleich, latte, pisse, relativ, schnuppe, schnurz, schwanz
(banana, bread, booger, fuck, equal, same, boner/slat, piss, relative, meteor/snuff, ?, tail/dick)

  • Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but not of the EU. They would either have to separately apply for EU membership or ask the Kingdom to do something about it.

  • Matrix 2 & 3. I don't see, or watch, them as separate movies. Rather, together with Matrix 1, they form one big masterpiece for me. But I can see that it doesn't really fit the 100 minutes format audiences came to expect, and breaking it in three parts did not do it any good. Plus, I guess I'm just a fan of long movies as I've also sat through the original, restored "Until the End of the World," which runs for about 5 hours.
